"[Definition: The term XDM instance is used, synonymously with the term value, to denote an unconstrained sequence of items in the data model.]"

Gratutitous reference to the data model, suggest:

"[Definition: The term XDM instance is used, synonymously with the term value, to denote an unconstrained sequence of items."

Noting that XDM doesn't use the term "XDM instance." Under 2.1 it says "instance of the data model is a sequence."
