Should we have a standard static semantics for the XQuery update facility ?
If yes, where should it be documented ?

Yes, we should we have a standard static semantics for the XQuery update facility. The WG approved such semantics at its Aug. 23 F2F meeting. These static semantics will be added as a new chater in the Update Facility document when it is next published.
