Description Jonathan Garbee 2012-10-31 22:12:48 UTC
Issue: Due to the import some pages do not use the form system.

Fix: From Mailing List [1] "Unfortunately, due to the way the import happened, these all-important
properties aren't set on many pages. As soon as a user makes any edit to
the page using the "Edit" button (as opposed to the "Edit source" button),
the pages will magically get the properties set correctly. Literally,
people could just click Edit, and then immediately click save on an article
and it would work (I call this operation--a save without any substantive
changes--a "touch", after the unix command-line program). "

This needs to be done to all applicable pages. A rough list of known pages (or pages with large sections of links to pages) with this issue will created within the Wiki itself and be maintained there. Once the site is mostly cleaned up we can close this bug down leaving any straggling pages to be organically updated.

The list will be maintained here [1] unless moved.

We should definitely get an automated fix for this because it will be useful in the future (basically, every time we update a page type to include a new template on it we'll need it--something that's likely to be pretty rare).

But in the meantime, running through this list is something that's a super-simple task that can be farmed out very effectively at hackathons as the very first task, perhaps?

That is the exact point of this. It is something to help be done at the DocSprint if people feel up to it or for anyone who is just looking to help by doing something super easy.

Right, now though we should find pages with large chunks of links and post them on the WPD:Touch_Pages list so people know where to look beyond just the HTML list. Automated fixes can be worked on later.

Ah, gotcha! Thanks!
