In the first section of DOM4, the specification states that the goal of making DOM4 is to consolidate the DOM platform, by... "1. By consolidating DOM Level 3 Core [DOM3CORE], Element Traversal [ELEMENTTRAVERSAL], the "DOM Event Architecture" and "Basic Event Interfaces" chapters of DOM Level 3 Events [DOM3EVENTS] (specific type of events do not belong in the base specification), and DOM Level 2 Traversal and Range [DOM2TR], and do the following: -Align them with the needs of ECMAScript where possible. -Align them with existing implementations. -Simplify them as much as possible." Because "consolidating" ends in an ING, the next steps ("and do the following") should be changed to "and BY DOING the following" and the first word of each bullet should be changed similarly - Aligning, Aligning, and Simplifying. I think. See (Goals: http://dvcs.w3.org/hg/domcore/raw-file/tip/Overview.html#goals). Also, goal #3 ("By defining a replacement for "Mutation Events" as modification listeners are fundamental to the DOM") is a little bit confusing.
