In the XPath 3.0 changes log (appendix J3.1 of the draft dated 11 Sept 2011), some of the items (14, 21, 25) are XQuery only. (This gives the impression try/catch has been added to XPath, which is not the case).

Partial function application seems to be missing from the list of new features.

I believe this is fixed now.
