Description Michael[tm] Smith 2011-05-06 00:09:10 UTC
Problem: The spec currently says, "Anyone is free to edit the Microformats wiki existing-rel-values page at any time to add a type. Extension types must be specified with the following information:", and then has a list with some categories of information that are expected to be provided for each link type; for example, "Keyword", "Effect on", "Brief description", "Synonyms". But the format of the wiki pages does not match those categorizations.

Suggestion solution: I suggest we don't bother trying to make the language of the spec here match the wiki closely, but instead, drop then entire list from the spec and replace it with a single sentence such as "To add new types to that wiki page, follow the instructions on that page.", and leave it to the maintainers of that page to provide guidance on how to add new information to it. (There are in fact no existing instructions on that page, but hopefully the maintainers can add some.)

I think the best way to address this without reopening the Decision is to make the link point more precisely to

Status: Accepted
Change Description: see diff given below
Rationale: Concurred with comment 1.

I expect this will change again. I think we should move to a model where the registry is tentative and the proven values move into the spec. This will probably mean a massive simplification of what the spec says is needed of the registry.
