Needed to resolve ACTION 666: http://www.w3.org/WAI/PF/Group/track/actions/666
Comment 1 Cynthia Shelly 2011-01-06 20:39:06 UTC
IE leaves the element in the tree and sets the MSAA invisible state, as described here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc891505(v=VS.85).aspx

W3C ARIA States and Properties	Microsoft Active Accessibility Properties
aria-hidden
STATE_SYSTEM_INVISIBLE

I tested this in IE9 Beta.

Discussed via e-mail.

The conclusion is that user agents MAY leave elements with aria-hidden="true" in the accessibility tree. UAIG updates complete.
