The correct way to switch a boolean attribute off is to use removeAttribute.  Using "true"/"false" is impossible for the legacy boolean attributes (browsers have long ignored their actual value and only keyed off of their presence or absence), and using it for new boolean attributes only would be extremely confusing for little benefit.
