Ruby support
Standard extension to support W3C ruby markup
- State:
- CLOSED
- Product:
- TTML2
- Raised by:
- Sean Hayes
- Opened on:

- Description:
- We need to think about the integration of W3C ruby markup into Timed Text, as this is commonly needed in some scripts to aid comprehension. While the syntax is well understood, and easily accommodated in a foreign namespace, the integration into our layout model needs some more careful thought.

sean: Renders may not be able to handle. Add to TTML namespace for 1.1. One option is to model more closely how this is done in HTML5 and CSS3.
mike: SMPTE has feature list for theatrical subtitle support. This makes this Issue-138 real.
sean: Important for internationalization.
pal: Liaison will allow for SMPTE input to this question.
