<Fazio> ESTABLISHING METRICS AND TRACKING PROGRESS

<Fazio> Content derived from Chapter 8.1.6 of Strategic IT Accessibility: Enabling the

<Fazio> Organization – 2nd Edition by Jeff Kline

<Fazio> An important approach to reaching full accessibility maturity is establishing goals and measuring

<Fazio> progress of the organization’s accessibility initiative.

<Fazio> Developing short term and long-term goals is a meaningful and realistic approach to achieve accessibility maturity .

<Fazio> Setting short-term goals is important and can be strategic or tactical, and may be indirectly related to achieving digital accessibility compliance. - Add to Optimize stage

Mark_Miller form a subcommittee

Sheri_B-H took a pass with Claud Pass to the future tense.

<Sheri_B-H> Establishing goals and measuring progress for the accessibility initiative is a core practice of accessibility maturity. The organization maintains both short- and long-term goals, tracks progress against them, and reports results on a regular schedule.

<Sheri_B-H> Short-term goals are strategic or tactical and often indirectly related to conformance. They build the organizational capability on which conformance depends. Examples include:

<Sheri_B-H> • Staff completion rates for general accessibility awareness training, measured against defined milestones

<Sheri_B-H> • Completion of accessibility training among project programmers, tracked as a percentage of the development staff

<Sheri_B-H> • An established accessibility baseline for the organization’s external website

<Sheri_B-H> • A selected set of automated scanning tools in regular use across internal and external sites

<Sheri_B-H> • Accessibility focal points appointed in all relevant units and subunits

<Sheri_B-H> These goals focus on organizational enablement rather than conformance and have a long-term impact. Progress is tracked using completion rates measured against the milestone dates the organization has set.

<Sheri_B-H> Long-term goals measure progress toward making the organization’s ICT accessible. Stakeholder organizations establish and agree on these goals to build consensus. Each stakeholder organization tailors its goals to the nature of its work, and the following elements are common to all of them:

<Sheri_B-H> • Goals are established for each area of responsibility

<Sheri_B-H> • Progress toward those goals is measured over time

<Sheri_B-H> • Results are reported at regular intervals, such as quarterly or annually

<Sheri_B-H> Metrics for long-range accessibility goals include:

<Sheri_B-H> • Percentage of internet pages with accessibility errors

<Sheri_B-H> • Percentage of intranet pages with accessibility errors

<Sheri_B-H> • Percentage of procured ICT products and services for internal use that are accessible

<Sheri_B-H> • Number of noncompliance exceptions granted

Mark_Miller JeffAdams-UN and I will for the subcommittee
