Web & AI IG and APA WG check-in (15 mins)
Max: [intro to the call and general agenda/TPAC and planning and other business] If no questions and nothing in Q, over to Matthew
Matthew: PLH first?
Matthew: Putting a link in presentation in IRC
<matatk> https://
<Roy_Ruoxi> slide
Matthew: Will try and share via the Zoom screen share and talk through it. (refer to the slide deck instead of extensive minutes)
… pointers to themes and specific work relevant for you. Main goal - sufficiently interested in some of these and have TPAC discussion or other. Or before TPAC. Teaser to start a dialog that resonates. Interested in your goals/aims and help.
… Promise is amazing. Conversations about the image. Amazing adaptations to content that might help make it easier to understand or different way than intended. Downsides...hallucinations (and can't tell) - "burden shifting." (refer to slides for more details)
… next slide has several links. If access issues, let Matthew know. RQTF draft on a11y of ML and genAI. Issue paper.
… slide mentions ATAG, Adaptation and Personalization CG, and Proposed WebMCP spec (again, links to these are on the slide deck, that Matthew shared in the minutes before starting)
… Next steps up to us - anything sound interesting, talk before or after TPAC, and how can APA help with goals?
… questions?
Max: we don't have to stop in 4 minutes. We can be flexible.
<Roy_Ruoxi> https://
Roy: TPAC - calendar/schedule. Web and AI interest group - should have a joint meeting? Only me and Max join TPAC...anyone else joining? can we coordinate with APA?
Max: bring broader consensus/bring groups together. Matthew- you know where conerns are and keyed in...so question to you instead of what WE want/how can we be a help to APA? Can we provide a space for you to converse with other working groups "banner up" at TPAC? Serve you in reponse?
Janina: blue sky - want to put something on table. Would love for us to think about it. Parental...don't do what I do, do what I say. We have that problem with AI. Want to figure something out. Learning/training on an inaccessible web generates inaccessible content. How do we coax it into not imitating us, but doing better than us?
… long term question that all the other things MAtthew talked about will point to that. No easy answer, but worth thinking about
Max: If we're framing to respond to blue sky with blue sky...framing what to achieve at TPAC as broader convo, might be worth than discussing specific topics. Rather present convo for braoder consortium of what AI training looks like on the web? Could look like a break out session. Doesn't ned to be a joint working group/interest group meeting.
Other shapes for that. Enamored by the question.
PLH: for TPAC, mini workshops a first this year. A long breakout. Allow to center topics, do papers, hosts, food, etc. Parallel to breakouts as well. Three of those mini workshops, one topic pushing forward is impact of AI in society and the web. Similar to this issue. Future of the open web. Azia agreed to look at the sessions, she's going to
attempt to recruit Lola. Working on social impact doc as well. Used for that session. Don't rush to her yet, it's new and she doesn't have details yet. Interested in helping - reach out to Azia.
Max: PLH - any other updates?
<Roy_Ruoxi> https://
PLH: happy to see APC on Matthew's slides. Pushing to look at specs sooner rather than later. A lot of industry pressure web MPC. didn't officially start charter, but doing a review of it as it is. Ecommerce Workshop we intend to publish in early August.
… ecommerce and AI agents
Max: seeing an emty queue and we're all genrally thinking same on next steps. Thank you Matthew for presenting and we'll keep communication open as TPAC gets closer.
Matthew: quick thank you for those who contributed to the slides
WebSkill presentation and QA from Chunhui (30 mins)
Max: p[resentation on web skill from Chunhui
<Roy_Ruoxi> slides
Chunhoi: sharing screen with slides. Will do limited scribing, refer to the link for the slides as needed.
… SaaS - skill as a service.
… slide discusses agent skill and what it is. Agent is a smart but new employee and agent skill is training manual for this new employee.
… skills solves big three problems with current AI. Context bloat (too much in prompt), lack of domain expert experience (skills capture human experience), avoid repetitive prompting (have to write long prompt over and over).
… webskill - runs 100% in web browser. Doesnt' need a backend server
… https://
PLH: those webskills, some come from web and get installed. If installed, only installed for specific origin?
Chunhui: they have dynamic..
PLH: web extension in browser and goes across whatever you're looking at by default. How similar is a webskill that you install? activated on any webpage? that the idea?
Chunhui: install extension to a browswer to activate the skill, but webskill does not need to be installed extension to browser. Second, try to use extension but skill stored in extension and find the skills content in local extensions and files and webskills is personal skill (he referred back to 1.3 webskill slide in the deck). There's no
separate different web pages...
PHL: how do you know which webskill to use? It could be used automatically, but if used automatic, it would have to know all available webskills to know which one to select and load
Chunhui: all names and skills are shared with the LLM. IT would kick up one skill that meets the user requirements. Then it will send full skills md body content to LLM to activated.
PHL: could be suffering ...too many tools/skills you may reduce context window significantly before you start?
Chunhui: need dynamic webskills (see 2.4 in slide deck) instead of persistent skills
PHL: thank you. will still need to look at the demo to wrap head around it
Max: skills, like underlying models, can vary in size. Work trying to make everything smaller/more agile. Do you imagine size limitations need or since it's local you don't have to worry about it?
Chunhui: don't have to worry about size. Depends on DDY storage and capacity
Max: through transmission layer - how does latency affect the experience?
… need to play around with the demo and see how it works
<Roy_Ruoxi> https://
Roy: want to highlight follow ups to keep discussing on this topic. Shared a link
… can set up/follow up issues here. They may have some interaction with WebMCP. Maybe will go into the working group in future. Hot topic. Different layer of WebMCP? Attract more people from web learning group?
Max: dicussed TPAC a little already. Anything else people want to raise for chairs/group to consider? And any other business at all?
… also available offline as well via email or github issues
