ongoing projects

<Wilco> https://github.com/orgs/act-rules/projects/2

Wilco: Dan, where are we with visible name?

Dan_Tripp: I think we are done. Jean-Yves left some comments and they are done!

Wilco: seems it can go out for review, Dan_Tripp can you do it?

Dan_Tripp: sure, 2 weeks for review?

Wilco: think so

Dan_Tripp: I did it already

Wilco: there are no records of it, strange
... Jean-Yves, you left comments, do you think it's ok to go or do we need another round of review?

Jean-Yves: I think, 1 more week

Wilco: Objections? No objection, 1 more week
... 1 project done! Exciting! Yay!
... Next project: Glossary page, any update?
... discussed last week during TF meeting with AGWG. They want to discuss that internally
... pending feedback
... 1 new project: revisit headings is descriptive rule

Armagan: I'll start looking into it, in 2 months I'll be able to create the PR, I think
... I'll update you when something is ready

Wilco: I don't see you in the Assignee list for that issue, did you receive the invite?

Armagan: I didn't receive anything

Wilco: I double-check, I know I sent it out
... I make a note and review it later
... anybody interested in a new project?

Dan_Tripp: I'll be one my LAbel in name is closed :D
... e.g., "Boundaries" examples
... I'll add it to the board if it's a good choice, Jean-Yves what do you think?

Jean-Yves: think so

Wilco: anyone else interested in a new project?

Godwin: I'm interested in writing a new role or updating one

Shunguo5: I started to look at ARIA 1.3 for ACT Rules update
... which relates to my work

Wilco: Godwin, interested in joining?

Shunguo5: the last year we had some rule update already using ARIA 1.3

Wilco: we already considered it for some rules, but not updated all

Sorin: I'm curious to know if we'll address one by one, or all together

Wilco: all together
... we also need to update the definitions pointing to 1.3, and then going one rule by one and check if it requires any update
... required children to allowed children, same for acc parent, is probably the biggest change here
... 3 people willing to take it: Shunguo5, Sorin, Godwin
... who is willing to lead it?

Shunguo5: I can take it

TPAC

Wilco: TPAC is coming in October, 26th
... note: TPAC is W3C annual meeting, where different WG, CG, etc. all come in one place to collaborate, sit in one room, make progress
... this year it's in Dublin Ireland

<Kathy> https://www.w3.org/news-events/tpac/

Wilco: should ACT be there? We did it in the past, usually european ones
... 2 questions from my side: 1. who here is already planning to attend TPAC; 2. if ACT organize something who is interested to join?

Sorin: I didn't plan but I'm available to join if we organize something.

Dan_Tripp: It's a maybe from me

Jean-Yves: I would like to go, but the timing is not helping me due to personal stuff
... so it's a maybe from me

annethyme: What if someone is not a w3c member?

Wilco: you don't need to be
... if you are not a member of that group you can be an observer

annethyme: I'd like to go, but the same month I'll be in Iceland, so I'm not sure

Godwin: Very interested in going, but nor sure, we'll see

giacomo-petri: I'll be there

Wilco: enough interest to consider it and there will be option for remote participation
... the other thing is, what would we like to do at TPAC
... 1. ARIA 1.3? 2. go through things that are almost ready for approval but there are a couple of issues blocking them; e.g., videos rules, ... that have issues that are blocking for a couple of years

giacomo-petri: discuss AI topics?

Wilco: benchmarking for AI?

Sorin: agree, we should have this convo

annethyme: we should discuss topics that were too complex to take decision in 1h meeting
... idea: how we should handle change of states?

Wilco: we spent a bunch of time on that years ago, and basically the conclusion is that the rule format works fine for states
... that said, we didn't write any rule for that already

annethyme: e.g., links hover state, etc. so I think there are no rules for that

Wilco: I think an ACT rule that checks for link hover state would help!
... I'd like it to be a topic for TPAC possibly

annethyme: discussing it in person will be an opportunity to set the basis

<Kathy> scribe+

<Kathy> giacomo-petri: implementation updates could be another topic

<Kathy> ... old implementation page lists an ACT rule consistency. if the rules are changed, the results are not updated

<Kathy> wilco: we're presenting those as they were. the mapping system indicates partial if the rule is now missing

<Kathy> ... please let me know if that is not happening

Wilco: any other topic for TPAC?

Kathy: if Helen is going to TPAC she would like to talk about manual rules

Wilco: how do we get this WCAG 3.0 ACT Rules to be valid ACT rules, how do we evaluate the maturity of these ACT Rules?
... AGWG has been writing rules for WCAG 3. These are handwavy drafty rules, how do we validate them?
... we help them in writing and refine the rules, and we can have an active role to be mature enough
... they are writing rules that might be part of wcag 2, and we might use them to improve our ruleset

Kathy: I think this week they were talking about arranging time bweteen AGWG and ACT, and if there is no conflict, would be great to meet

a/bweteen/between

Wilco: anything else on TPAC?

ARIA 1.3

<annethyme> https://github.com/act-rules/act-rules.github.io/issues/2416

annethyme: maybe because ARIA 1.3 asked for ACT review?

Wilco: yes, that was it. The ARIA WG has invited us to review ARIA 1.3. They are getting ready for a wide review as next step.
... pretty good timing for us to start an ARIA 1.3 update

Shunguo5: I agree

+1

Wilco: I would very much encourage everyone indivdually review ARIA 1.3; Shunguo5 leading the ARIA 1.3 stuff (conflicts, issues, etc.)
... do we want a dedicated meeting to look at changes in ARIA 1.3?

Shunguo5: not sure on this...

Wilco: topic for next CG call, can you investigate by that date so we can discuss it?

Shunguo5: I spent some time in doing investigation, if anyone else have time I'd like you to look at it
... changes are pretty much spreaded...

Wilco: 2 weeks from today, agenda item will be ARIA 1.3, if you can prepare on the major changes that are impacting our existing rules

Shunguo5: sure
