Meeting minutes

New Business

CharlesL: Do we have schedule for break out session?

Fazio: Not schedule yet

CFC Review

Fazio: we can easily address -1 which popped up yesterday but before that we got all +1

Fazio: Jason has issues with our github and comments but I think it should be internal for us and issues present right now are recommendation

Fazio: As per me we can proceed

janina: All objections will be considered

Fazio: reading Maturity model continues to need a lot of work

#359

Fazio: This does not look substantial issue

<janina> http://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/decision-policy

janina: The governing document is this, we have a policy to handle -1 votes

janina: Mattew and I will have to discuss this first and come up with a decision

janina: we have several implementors who mentioned that it was easy to follow -

Sheri_B-H: WCAg four years ago is not same today, so is there a point when we try to align WCAG?

Charles: Apart from using it, we also built a product around it

CharlesL: Shared the feedback for using Maturity model

CharlesL: We conducted a survey and shared results

janina: any of that quotable?

CharlesL: yes

Fazio: future can be exploring normative side

janina: easy fix for aligning goals

Sheri_B-H: Was she reading the correct version/

<Fazio> The model provided is to evaluate a disability inclusive organization but the goal stated is "guide for organizations to evaluate and improve their business processes to produce digital products that are accessible to people with disabilities. " For example, the personnel tab would not be needed for the stated goal. There are several results of the

<Fazio> stated goal and model being out of alignment. First, it will miss its target audience. A digital accessibility maturity model's target audience is the digital accessibility staff and allies

janina: We shared one version through CFC

<Fazio> The model provided is to evaluate a disability inclusive organization but the goal stated is "guide for organizations to evaluate and improve their business processes to produce digital products that are accessible to people with disabilities. " For example, the personnel tab would not be needed for the stated goal. There are several results of the

<Fazio> stated goal and model being out of alignment. First, it will miss its target audience. A digital accessibility maturity model's target audience is the digital accessibility staff and allies. A disability inclusive model's target audience is much broader and includes HR, accommodations staff, digital accessibility staff, etc. Because this model is

<Fazio> broader, WCAG 3 cannot adopt it as it is.

janina: I need to talk to Mattew

janina: How to answer a question - Why do we have to publish

Fazio: As it is a iterative process, we should publish and keep working

Sheri_B-H: also people build on top of it

janina: Does deque has their own model?

Mark_Miller: they do have a roadmap, not sure it is a model

janina: we will acknowledge and we will summrize everything and resond to them

Fazio: We can help you with a reply

janina: Keep it simple and yes minutes will help

janina: we will use experience of people who have used it

Fazio, janina: CharlesL can send a email by sharing feedback from Benetech side which will help to come up with a reply

janina: sharing a link where maturity model is mentioned

<janina> https://a11yedge.github.io/capabilities/

Fazio: Is it a strong point to put ?

janina: strongest

Fazio: Is there a format?

janina: yes there is

janina: we need and endorsment like Benetech in it

Fazio: I have reference and I will continue with that

Minutes manually created (not a transcript), formatted by scribe.perl version 246 (Wed Oct 1 15:02:24 2025 UTC).
