18: 08 <Abi> Everyone in this call confirmed they have received all emails

18: 09 <Lisa> next item

18: 09 * Zakim thinks agendum 3 -- WCAG conformance -- taken up [from Lisa]

18: 09 <julierawe> https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1DlDxp8MCYXj3RWnFCCz13zsmM2fV4Wf8NbECKogdul8/edit?slide=id.p#slide=id.p

18: 14 <Abi> Julie: Update on AG meetings. New conformance levels for WCAG 3 will be very different to what we're familiar with. Instead of A, AA, AAA, there will be Bronze, Silver, Gold. The new conformance model requires you to meet all foundational requirements plus 10-20% of supplemental requirements to reach the minimum tier (Bronze). The

supplemental

18: 14 <Abi> requirements can be hard to test. What can we do to ensure that the COGA requirements are represented here? See slide 7 in the deck for the new conformance levels.

18: 14 <Lisa> q+

18: 14 * Zakim sees Lisa on the speaker queue

18: 15 <Abi> Julie: A survey will be sent out, possibly tomorrow. Encouraging everyone to respond. This will be discussed in the AG meeting tomorrow.

18: 17 <Abi> Julie: 2/3 of current WCAG requirements are foundational requirements. The number of foundational requirements may be reduced in the new requirements. We need to make sure COGA remains well-represented.

18: 17 *** Jan (~Jan@6b13c2d6.publics.cloak) has joined the channel

18: 17 <Jan> present+

18: 18 <Lisa> q?

18: 18 * Zakim sees Lisa on the speaker queue

18: 19 <julierawe> How to ensure equitable representation in the foundational requirements?

18: 19 <Abi> Lisa: We need the foundational requirements to be equitable between disability groups.

18: 21 <Abi> Julie: The question of equitable representation becomes tricky when some groups have very few requirements and others have many

18: 25 <Abi> Gareth asked how would you gauge on whether the percentage should be 10% or 20%

18: 26 <kirkwood> q+

18: 26 * Zakim sees Lisa, kirkwood on the speaker queue

18: 26 <Abi> Julie answered that she thinks that to meet Bronze, you have to meet all foundational requirements plus x% of the group of supplemental requirements and assertions. She thinks that they want to have a system to prevent people from picking all the requirements of the same type, e.g. all visual or all cognitive. It will need to be spread

out.

18: 26 <Lisa> ack me

18: 27 * Zakim sees kirkwood, Lisa on the speaker queue

18: 27 <Abi> Gareth asks what prevents companies from doing a low-quality audit

18: 29 * Zakim sees kirkwood at the head of the speaker queue

18: 29 * Zakim sees Lisa on the speaker queue

18: 29 <Abi> Julie answered that there are discussions about reporting, e.g. maybe there will be an acceptable minimum scope to audit. We also don't want companies to be fearful and to be encouraged to be honest.

18: 30 <Lisa> +1 to john

18: 31 <GSlinn> FYI: from an audit POV I would focus on element, component, composition then page

18: 31 <Abi> John is very concerned with this approach. He thinks that we should be focusing on removing blockers for people will cognitive accessibility issues.

18: 33 <Abi> Lisa: Doesn't have a problem with foundational requirements, assuming they are blockers across all groups.

18: 34 <julierawe> Action item: Julie will share the AG survey with COGA when it is released tomorrow. Julie and Lisa will provide suggestions on how to ensure COGA is well represented in the conformance model.

18: 36 <Lisa> I dont have a problem with people focusing on a specific disability groups once foundational requirments included all the blooks

18: 37 <Abi> Lisa: COGA buddies - people who have been part of COGA for at least 6 months can mentor newbies. Is this something we want to pursue?

18: 37 <Lisa> do we want coga buddies

18: 38 <Abi> Gareth does not want a COGA buddy

18: 43 <kirkwood> where stuff is!

18: 43 <Jan> How to effectively use IRC

18: 44 <Lisa> links,

18: 44 <kirkwood> calendaring!

18: 44 <Abi> Len: Would have been helpful for setting up the calendar

18: 44 <Abi> Lisa: We should try to set it up

18: 45 <Jan> Understanding group dynamics and that there are lots of people in the group with lived experience with cognitive disabilities - this can sometimes make the meetings spicy

18: 45 <Abi> Lisa: Some people will need more time and support than others. Try it for 6 weeks, then maybe change to someone else.

18: 46 <Abi> LIsa: Commitment would be for 6 weeks so people are not over-burdened

18: 46 <Abi> Len: People who are knew to W3C will need more support than those already familiar

18: 46 <Abi> *new

18: 47 <Lisa> next item

18: 47 * Zakim thinks agendum 5 -- Helping people engage with coga Is the new structure helping? Outstanding problems? (see

18: 47 * Zakim ... https://docs.google.com/document/d/14LeA2LCa6sEotMtBhAOM_jMgyaSgjsEw8dYUzctECiw/edit?tab=t.0) -- taken up [from Lisa]

18: 47 <Abi> Lisa: Next item - helping people engage

18: 50 <Abi> Lisa: Referring to the "coga Action items" Google doc - pointed out that information has been added there. We also have a new a Google sheet "coga actions" and each group has its own tab.

18: 50 <Abi> Also changed the subgroups to Research and Guidance.

18: 51 <Abi> Lisa: Have these resources helped? Is more needed?

18: 51 <Abi> +1

18: 51 * Zakim sees 2 items remaining on the agenda:

18: 51 * Zakim 5. Helping people engage with coga Is the new structure helping? Outstanding problems? (see

18: 53 <Abi> Lisa added a new tab to the Google doc "coga Action items" with the list of calls. their names, and their times

18: 56 <Abi> Abi pointed out that the meeting names are not updated automatically in our personal calendars. Possibly need to export again.

18: 56 <Abi> Lisa will add changing the name of "COGA Subgroup Call" to a more meaningful name to her to do list.

18: 58 <Abi> Lisa: We'll touch base on this on a monthly basis
