Meeting minutes

New Business

<jkline> having zoom issues

CharlesL: Bennetech's maturity model and refinement in education space. Confusion on proof points around ICT and not a common term in edu space. Looked up ICT and more preveilent in EU and other international circles and not in US
… EdTech might be too narrow since might be computers in general
… thinking might adjust Benntech model to Digital Tech

janina: Agrees that ICT isn't well known outside of policy areas
… suggests to file a note so that it's a term you might want to adjust based on application area.

Fazio: doubts we'll find just one term for it. worth a discussion

CharlesL: will add an issue.

<Fazio> The key thing I hear here is "international"

<Fazio> we want internationalization

Jeff Kline: Thinks all we need to do is to add a sentence that says it may also be referrened to as "digital technology... etc." As long as we reference it should be okay.

Fazio: Important to make this global, and not just one industry.

CharlesL: Will take this back to his team. Survey he'd launched on this indicated ICT wasn't known.

Jeff Kline: If someone doesn't know ICT, should they be completing the survey?

CharlesL: Admits to having to re-read the definition because it wasn't common.

janina: It's policy language, not QA, not analysts, and not others. it's a term that's not used.

CharlesL: Will do some follow up on this.

JeffAdams-UN: we work with folks who are very early we want as little friction as possible as we need this to be global. how it is presented how it is filled out, yes there is some homework but we want as frictionless as possible.

janina: Don't need to define everything, but need to get the meaning across and what the variable is.

Fazio: pulled standard definition of ICT, and it's a bit of a convoluted definition. having it in there might be good for legal definition.

janina: we won't change, only ampilfy

Neha: want the model to reach as many people as possible, so redefining definition makes sense

janina: more interested in being functional in organizations
… will try to give us a suggestion to consider
… this would be something to put in before final publish

Publication Update

Fazio: out for wide review since spetember 2. haven't gotten any feedback yet on GitHub Repo. Not necessarily a bad thing and we weren't expecting a lot of comments.

Fazio: Was some LinkedIN sharing. Let's keep that going

janina: Expects if we get comments that it'll be near then end. But also doesn't expects any

Here is the new Issue I just created w3c/maturity-model#298

<gb> Issue 298 ICT is not widely known - definition doesn't really help (by clapierre)

Fazio: Next meeeting will be in a couple of weeks. We'll see if any issues between now and then. We can work on ICT definition in the meantime. Next meeting we'll talk about how ot move forward
