Meeting minutes

Logistics

Koster: we have several guests today
… would make sense to ask them to introduce themselves
… (asks Torbjorn and Mark to introduce themselves)

Torbjorn: (gives his self intro)

Koster: happy to have you here

Torbjorn: happy to be here

Mark: (also gives his self intro)

Koster: sounds like we can have good discussion later :)

Kaz: Frederick is also new

Frederick: (gives his intro too)

Koster: let's make sure all the information is public
… the IG is gathering resources on smart cities now
… aob?

Kaz: just to make sure, we have a dedicate section during this call for discussion

Minutes

April-28

Koster: (goes through the minutes)

Linda: no comments on the minutes themselves
… but wondering about the OGC section within resources.md
… would be OK if I add some more updates?

Kaz: sure
… really appreciated

Koster: ok
… no updates needed, so the minutes are approved

PRs

remaining PRs

Koster: no remaining PRs today

resources.md

Koster: we're collecting information on the resources.md
… any specific comments?

(none)

Discussion

resources.md

Koster: we're trying to edit resources.md to collect information

Torbjorn: one of the challenges was matter of understanding
… which standards to be used by whom
… W3C standards to be referred to from other standards
… we can have a list
… what to be done as the next step is also interesting

Smart Cities IG Charter

Kaz: survey on existing standards by related SDOs first, and then clarify what to be done for the next steps. would have discussion with you all today

Koster: cross referencing is interesting
… so it's useful to ask questions
… at this moment, it's just a list
… figure out how to organize the indexing, etc. to be discussed

Mark: would suggest something
… there are many different kinds of standards generated by various SDOs
… should have some categories and matrix for measurement
… and then as Michael suggested, we should try deep diving and think about proper indexing

Kaz: agree
… started to work on tech categories also

technology-categories.md

Kaz: but still struggling

Mark: what about ontology standardization

Kaz: agree
… personally interested in ontology standardization and Web-based framework as the basic categories

Frederick: specific generic types there
… and we can map custom domains from W3C
… 150 different ontologies already
… happy to help you categorize them

Kaz: tx!

Torbjorn: in ISO/IEC, we have some incorporated pattern
… to see how standards are related to each other
… could be worked with W3C as well
… should work with each other more deeply
… overview of what's missing for smart cities
… trying to clarify the crucial points

Kaz: +1
… is there any existing resources?

Torbjorn: we can influence to W3C about that
… within ISO/IEC, starting some work
… starting JTC4 for smart cities
… probably decided soon

Koster: ok. let's keep the discussion ongoing

Linda: the list is already big
… and would be great if we could choose what is needed
… for digital twin and smart cities applications
… would be a good outcome

Kaz: right

Mark: this issue is related to all the standards
… started to address technical issues
… may I share my screen?

Kaz: sure

Mark: we're creating a Web page about resources
… still no title added, though

http://citydatastandard.org/index.php

http://citydatastandard.org/index.php/Contract

http://citydatastandard.org/index.php/Organization

Mark: happy to expose some of the information from this
… a lot of work to relate different classes with each other
… asking the students to handle it so far
… but it's a lot of effort
… but can expose some of them

Kaz: yes
… this is very useful and important
… would be great if we could add a reference from our document

Koster: right
… getting metadata is one of the problems

Kaz: btw, is it OK to add the links in the minutes from this call?

Mark: sure

Kaz: tx!

Frederick: we have cross reference also
… search for standards
… public viewing of it
… we could literary cross reference the text search
… super classes, etc., too

Mark: would love to try it out

Frederick: would set up a quick demo for that

Koster: would be great

Kaz: is that public at the moment?

Frederick: it's now scaling in production

Koster: yeah, would see the demo

Next call

Kaz: next monthly call on June 23
… Frederick, do you think you can make your demo on that day?

Frederick: sure

Torbjorn: holiday in Sweden

Mark: will be in Beijing, but would make it

Linda: conflicting meeting on that day

Koster: maybe we can reschedule the meeting then

Kaz: right
… can generate a doodle poll for that purpose

Koster: let's do that!
… any other business?
