Meeting minutes

Accessibility of Machine Learning and Generative AI.

jasonjgw: Josh was able to push corrections to repository

josh: Those will need to be merged to the main branch

josh: but double check

Bibliographic Citations

jasonjgw: we had a request for potential edge cases to check the implementation

jasonjgw: we want to show the different types of records we might want to cite.

scott: happy to chase down some examples

jasonjgw: we want to find examples that aren't the standard journal references

janina: do we have our ETA?

Scott: a couple of days for me

janina: it will take a few days to get some of these but if we have anything now it would be good to send them ASAP

janina: we can always say "more to come"

draft development and revision plans

jasonjgw: we want to get to first public working draft

jasonjgw: what are the priorities for revision to get us to 1st pwd status

Josh: 18 issues open 2 closed

scott: 18 new?

josh: 12 new

josh: some these have been discussed but not closed.

janina: good first step and that will notify people their issues have bene worked on.

janina: let's avoid being overcautious. A closed issue can be reopened if it needs to be

jasonjgw: Josh - are the issues relating to your mergers closed?

Josh: no, I'll walk through them now.

jasonjgw: "Closes #[issue number]" in a commit should auto-close that issue number.

Janina: to close the ethics issue we need to cross-reference the W3C ethical document

josh: the sustainability issue is out of scope for us so we'll need to defer to the ethics and similar documents

janina: it can be reopened if there is some demonstrable link to accessibility but otherwise this isn't within our remit

Josh: that's 8 closed

jasonjgw: we can focus on remaining issues next week.

Miscellaneous topics.

AI-Accessibility related APA reviews

w3c/apa#350

<gb> #350

janina: the github issue above may impact on our work

jasonjgw: we can pick this up next time if deemed useful

AAC Users Use Screen Readers

Josh: Yes, they're useful for people with cognitive disabilities.

janina: if that's not flagged with COGA it'd be worth doing

Additional topics

jasonjgw: DAISY consortium is producing a user requirements document

jasonjgw: there's a draft in their github repository so it's worth commenting on that if you're interested

janina: multilinear and music appear to be the same problem just with different media

jasonjgw: there's a review of Meta smart glasses and whether they are compatible with hearing aids, cochlear implants and refreshable Braille and they don't appear to be.

jasonjgw: it's worth bearing in mind when we reopen the XAUR and RTC
