Meeting minutes

Overview of changes done after the release of the third and final draft.

AvneeshSingh: let's speak about the changes for last release

rickj: is there a changelog?

matt: there is one Change log section at the bottom of each document
… EPUB Metadata changes we made sure all XPATHs conforms to XPATH 1.0 spec
… one of the larger change was about the hazards, the unkown hazards weren't captured at all, we fixed it
… this changed the algorithm as well as new strings for the output
… we also updated some XPATHs to manage refines attributes in the EPUB
… in the ONIX we had less issues, mainly about hazards
… in the guidelines small typos in the strings were fixed

gpellegrino: two small things: a PR about code 99 for contacting the plusher
… plus two new codes in ONIX that we'll add

w3c/publ-a11y#676

w3c/publ-a11y#678

<mgarrish> gpellegrino: I think we have three level of changes in our document - since we asked for feedback until April I think some more changes may come - the most impactful are adding or changing strings as it affects localization, then algorithm changes, and finally changes to text outside the outputs

<mgarrish> ... my proposal is to continue to have the last type of changes but for the first two we should decide as a group how to manage

rick: int he agenda I see 4 types, are you proposing to allow only text changes without touching strings and algorithm?

AvneeshSingh: how do we want to move for the other 3 types?

rickj: I would propose to freeze the changes to this version

George: for me the hazard refactor is important

AvneeshSingh: that change was already made
… the idea is to block new changes

rickj: plus the two known issues for ONIX

mgarrish: I don't see other changes coming, we passed all issues in the tracker

AvneeshSingh: ok, so after the PRs for ONIX we freeze the work
… allowing only changes in the text, without touching strings and algorithm

George: do we need o update the canonical JSON?

rickj: I think it's fine to have all merged and update the JSON on the 11th
… 11th of april

AvneeshSingh: do you see other changes in ONIX coming?

gpellegrino: not really these were the only codes missing

Madeleine: in the crosswalk document there is still some work to do, but it should not impact this document

AvneeshSingh: ok, so if we don't have disrupting feedback, we'll release the final version on the 11th

AvneeshSingh: since these are guidelines, it's not mandatory to implement them at 100%
… implementers have the freedom to implement with small differences

George: how do we want to display the implementations?

gpellegrino: one option is to have static HTML from the implementers

mgarrish: do we want to use a separate document?

AvneeshSingh: do we have time?

before the release?

rickj: I can provide a screenshot

AvneeshSingh: we can make an external index to list the implementations
… so we can update it without touching the document

George: what about localization?

gpellegrino: we've translated the strings in iItalian and we'll make a PR before the 11th

rickj: We'll soon have 37 languages, and we'll donate the localization

George: I think we have to update the canonical JSON with hazards

gpellegrino: I'll do it
