Meeting minutes

Review agenda and next meeting dates

https://github.com/w3c/aria-at/wiki/March-6%2C-2025-Agenda

Matt_King: Next week is CSUN, so there won't be an online meeting

Matt_King: Next Community Group Meeting: Thursday March 20

Matt_King: Next AT Driver Subgroup meeting: Monday March 10

Matt_King: Requests for changes to agenda?

IsaDC: I need to report an issue with reporting issues about the radio group

Matt_King: We can discuss that in the existing agenda item for radio group

Current status

Matt_King: We're still at 13 plans in Candidate Review (soon to be 14). Three in Draft review, and another slider coming up

Testing radio group with active descendant

Matt_King: On JAWS, it looks like we're still waiting on Hadi

IsaDC: I haven't heard from Hadi. I'm a little concerned about that because he's usually so active, and I don't think we've heard from him since January

Matt_King: I'm not sure what to do about this. In the mean time, we could have someone else run it

IsaDC: We don't have many JAWS testers; I think Luke may be the only option

James: Luke is out for the rest of the week, so we'll have to consider this next week

Matt_King: For NVDA, it looks like Luke has gone about halfway through.

Matt_King: I don't know why we have mmoss assigned to that because we have both Luke and IsaDC assigned

IsaDC: We forgot to un-assign mmoss

mmoss: I can un-assign myself, now

Matt_King: Okay. And for VoiceOver, we have some conflicts

https://aria-at.w3.org/test-queue/352/conflicts

Matt_King: Joe_Humbert and IsaDC are getting different results

Matt_King: IsaDC's results look like the output you would get if quick nav was on instead of off

IsaDC: I double-checked that setting. I also ran the tests both ways just to be sure, and it made no difference

IsaDC: I was specifically using "arrow quick nav"

Matt_King: It's hard to understand how pressing an arrow key with "quick nav" off could even get you to the link

Matt_King: Ah, but in Safari, the arrow keys have this kind of functionality...

IsaDC: I'd like to see if someone else could run those tests and see what the results are

mmoss: I'm already assigned; I'm happy to run through it

IsaDC: Okay!

Matt_King: Last time we were looking at versions, everyone was on Safari version 18.3. Is that still the case?

IsaDC: Yes

mmoss: Yes

Joe_Humbert: There was a recent macOS update, but it didn't update Safari

Matt_King: It's okay if the macOS version changes, but if the VoiceOver version changes, that is a problem

IsaDC: I have macOS 15.3.1

Joe_Humbert: I did go through and test when I saw the conflicts, and I tested three or four times and got the same results every time

Matt_King: This is a pretty serious road block as well! I guess we'll figure it out

Matt_King: So for this Test Plan, we're stuck on JAWS (due to being short on resources), NVDA is paused until Luke is back, and for VoiceOver, the next step is for a third person to run it

Elizabeth: I can check out VoiceOver

Testing Radio group with roving tab index

Matt_King: I think we're in the same situation, here

Matt_King: We're done with NVDA. We will have to see if Luke can run the tests for JAWS when he is back

Testing updated disclosure nav menu plan

Matt_King: I don't see this in the test queue, yet

IsaDC: I have advanced it to draft just now. It's currently updating...

Matt_King: It saws that JAWS is 100% complete for two testers, so it took all the old results. It says the same for NVDA. Maybe we don't have to re-run it, after all

Matt_King: When this happens, there is a problem in the "report status" dialog because there are no links to the actual reports.

Matt_King: But I guess we can advance this to "recommended". Hopefully the results will show up, then

Matt_King: That's a good thing! That saves us on testing time

Testing media seek slider

Matt_King: We need some people to run this

Matt_King: Joe_Humbert, you're done with everything you're assigned to, correct?

Joe_Humbert: Correct

Matt_King: Awesome! We can assign Joe_Humbert and Dean to the VoiceOver for Seek Slider

Joe_Humbert: That works for me

IsaDC: What about NVDA? The Bot results are already populated

Matt_King: Elizabeth, are you ready? Do you want to do the NVDA?

Elizabeth: I don't have access to NVDA. I use a MacBook

Matt_King: Maybe Elizabeth and Joe_Humbert can do VoiceOver, instead. Then, Dean and Joe_Humbert can do NVDA

Matt_King: Or rather, Joe_Humbert and IsaDC on NVDA

Matt_King: Maybe if we have Joe_Humbert run JAWS instead of NVDA for the media seek slider

Matt_King: For the disclosure nav, we'll have to re-run that with the latest version of JAWS when it comes out

Matt_King: That means we have JAWS covered and VoiceOver covered for the media seek slider. For NVDA, it will be IsaDC and Dean

Matt_King: If you add from the top of the page, you can choose versions. If you add from the button in the table, then you cannot. I think that's a bug in our UI

Matt_King: This is our first test plan with negative assertions. They're saying that it's important that the screen reader did NOT do something

IsaDC: I am going to send the assignments out to the list just so we don't get confused about who is doing what

Matt_King: I hope Hadi is alright. It's so unusual to have such a long quiet spell. But I don't know how to contact him besides e-mail.

Matt_King: Thank you everybody! Have a wonderful afternoon, and thank you for your support
