xfq: CSS #10249 blocks dark mode for i18n specs
<gb> Issue 10249 not found
florian: I thought we had resolved on this, but apparently not
<gb> Issue 4687 How to deal with custom styles in dark mode? (by xfq) [bug]
florian: that really is a respec issue
… because what they want to do is possible
… it's just more verbose than what they would like
… if the way CSS behave changes
… they can achieve the same thing with less code
… but they can already do it
… maybe a change in CSS will make the life easier for developers
… maybe it won't
florian: I'm going to push back a little bit here
… CSSWG members can help if they have time but I don't think the CSSWG should be used as a support forum for writing or styling websites
… that's not what the CSSWG is for
… this is really a web dev question, not a spec question
… I'll try and have a look if I have time, but usually I don't have time, so I can't promise

<gb> Issue 4154 Consider Canonicalization of language tags in :lang() selector maching (by frivoal) [selectors-4] [i18n-tracker] [Needs Review of Proposed Text] [selectors-5] [Agenda+ i18n]
florian: a while back, I was considering whether it would be convenient for authors whether :lang() selector would automatically do normalization
… like there are multiple language tags taht are supposed to be equivalent
… like yue, zh-yue, zh-HK
… they mean the same thing
… but they are distinct tokens
… so they don't get treated the same
… this PR got accidentlly merged, so I think we're gonna have to look at it sooner rather than later
xfq: I'll have a look
xfq: @@1
