Welcome and Introductions (As needed)

Continued Capabilities Discussion

Clarity at the top level regarding Edge vs Overlay

janina: The group is Edge, the document is Overlay Capabilities
… a features inventory

Jason: That implies IMHO that Edge should have limited place in this report

janina: I would be happy with "Inventory of Capabilities Apart From Source" as well, we can address that

Jason: An Overlay Capabilities inventory is OK with me: it's tight, defined, and addresses a topic that needs addressing
… or capabilities that can be done after original source
… my point is, what flows after that is very different from that, and needs to be tucked in

janina: We were leaving the door open to server-mediated technologies as well as browser-based technologies
… this approach avoids making that call
… these are things we can do apart from source
… it's a taxonomic debate

Autonomous Automation / Automatability

Look up this, https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/automatability

janina: Automatability: Can you reach autonomous automation or not?

Jason: + 1
… a human could be involved at the start to kick it off, once you start it, it runs
… as opposed to General AI which could kick itself off
… three states (1) In many cases (2) In some cases (3) In no significant way
… Agree that automatability is the analysis of whether autonomous automation can be achieved

Lionel2: We took about 6 or 7 headings, and Lionel shared his opinion on the automatability
… we found high agreement on assessing automatability

Permission to Add a Capability

Jason: When discussing captions, does the source platform permit providing captions at the edge?

janina: Permission has not been an issue until now, as source is not aware of what happens at the edge.

Chris: Returning to captions. I was on a Zoom call, one person elected to have the captions on display.
… its default language was English,
… any one of the attendees could change the language
… different individuals kept changing the language
… it was a kind of language war
