<gb> Pull Request 264 Add Breakouts Day 2024 presentation (by matatk)
Slides preview: https://
matatk: The official name is, W3C Breakouts Day 2024
… it will be open to everyone
… Using the last year TPAC template, will update when/if we get a new one
Lionel_Wolberger_: I would like to see an example of the destinations being used, and why we're using them (show at least some of the URLs)
Lionel_Wolberger_: We need a slide showing a well known destination at work, e.g., www.mysite.com/ia/accessibility
Leandro_: Agree. Slides 12-15 need to say more about our proposal
Leandro_: The key phrase 'well-known destinations' needs to be explained more prominently.
matatk: The browser extension demo is not represented here and it says a lot
matatk: Agree on prominence of the key phrase - maybe introduce it on slide 10
matatk: Showed the demo again
Lionel_Wolberger_: suggests a couple of slides - one listing common destinations today; another listing problems people encounter (update of existing slide)
Lionel_Wolberger_: Make a slide saying, TITLE Website Common Destinations, the bullets: • Home • Accessibility statement • Contact • Help • Login
… and another, People Struggle To Find These, bullets: • Themes and Variations • Visual complexity • Synonyms (e.g., login, signin) • Foreign language
Lionel_Wolberger_: Important to say the words (i.e. IANA) rather than just giving a link in the body text of the slide.
Lionel_Wolberger_: 6 & 7 should be combined, for a shorter explanation of where we're coming from
Lionel_Wolberger_: I think we should give Abhinav a slide to present, and that he'd speak well to building on existing infrastructure (current slide 14).
Abhinav: I think slide 6 is important as it sets the perspective (synonyms can be important).
Abhinav: Slide 6 seems important as it shows how synonyms can cause struggle
matatk: explained the Content Usable -> machine adaptations speech we make at this point.
Leandro_: I think collapsing 5 and 6 would address the problem of showing what we're doing, and not repeating stuff.
Leandro_: Demo is good; the site needs to be more complex, as matatk indicated.
Leandro_: We recently found the same situation, where the classic 'save' icon was not understood by participants in a seminar.
Leandro_: (It is a study of user behavior by people with disabilities)
Lionel_Wolberger_: Is 'a more adaptive web' appropriate for this presentation? It's not a critical word to what we do. It used to be Personalization, then we got Adapt, which is perfect. Recommending using vocab we use in our standard.
Lionel_Wolberger_: need the URLs for links
Lionel_Wolberger_: We need a bullet on requesting a namesmpace (not just a particular URL)
