<scribe> Topic : Easy Checks

editorial changes to be made in the future, but we may put them off till March.

Images have been added, they should all be available in the deploy.

<kevin> Easy Checks preview

Kevin: URL of where they are being shared
... not every page has images yet, some may get them- but some may not end up having images.
... editorial decision to put images in where there is value and the image tells you something.
... happy to take input on the images if people have feelings about that either way.

<kakinney> Kevin: not all easy checks have been duplicated, so we want to keep the old Easy Checks to add a link to Archive version in the secondary Nav.

<kakinney> ... under the easy checks navigation, there will be a last link to Archive Version which goes to the current version of Easy Checks.

<kakinney> ...Is that enough or should we do more?

<kakinney> Laura: Do we have a way to get metrics on the archive version to see if people are using it?

<kakinney> Kevin: yes, we should be getting that on all of these pages when they go live.

<kakinney> Laura: I would hope we could take it down if people aren't using it.

<kakinney> Shadi: First time I'm seeing this and I love it.

<kakinney> ... the images on the front page, will they be on th individual pages as well?

<kakinney> Kevin: they were designed as placeholders for the primary navigation page.

<kakinney> ... we have to look at styling for the whole site.

<kakinney> Shadi: What is the rationale for having the archive version?

<kakinney> Kevin: we don't have an easy check to cover every one in the original checks. so we wanted to keep all the old checks covered.

<kakinney> ... there are also issues on the old page, and we may not update or fix that, so it may be issues in the future.

<kakinney> Shadi: if these two checks that are missing maybe link to the missing ones, not the whole page.

<kakinney> Kevin: I would probably be inclined to put the links to the "Previous Checks" at the bottom

<Len_B_> qq about image sizes

<kakinney> Kosi: comment on the archive - when I used to do trainings and we used those checks a lot, and we those before and after pages worked really well for real time trainings.

<kakinney> Kevin: updates to the Before and After demo is really useful from an ed perspective, but it's difficult to use the current one. There was an update started but never finished.

<kakinney> Len: the image on the page title check page seem small, is that by design?

<kakinney> Kevin: has to do with the scaling images from normal to large. Large seems to be much to big.

<kakinney> ... will see if I can add a midrange size for the images.

<kakinney> presetn+ sharron

<kakinney> Len: contrast images sizes were too small too.

<kakinney> Kevin: We'd like to get permission to publish as a Draft and finish off the work on it soon so we can take the Draft off of it.

<kakinney> Another approval to publish survey will be coming soon.

evaluation Tools List

<kevin> New list

<kakinney> Kevin: the submission form was published in the late Fall. The new list has some publications on it, with more to come once Shawn gets back from her holiday.

<kakinney> ... there are two issues that will be able to be fixed before we publish this list.

<kakinney> ... the bug, the title of the tool does not link to the tool. It links back to the list.

<kakinney> Kevin: once we get approval to publish we will move the URL to be more consistent and the old list will be retired.

<kakinney> ... the overall structure matches the course list to keep these lists in alignment.

<kakinney> Len: Open Source is a criteria for us when we're buying tools. are we going to ignore that class of tools?

<kakinney> Kevin: It was a question about finding where the category for open source could go? it didn't fit in paid/free. If you want to raise an issue about it, please do. if you have ideas about how to solve it, that would be appreciated.

<kakinney> Shadi: trying to do open source becomes very difficult for the rules - we didn't have much discussion about open source, and the extensibility of the tools.

<kakinney> Kevin: would it be a single option filter Is it extendable? instead of open source.

<kakinney> Shadi: can you manage the rule sets or modify the rule set.

<kakinney> Kevin: Looking to get this one live soon, so another approval to publish survey will be out for this soon.
