Health rules

As the health situation is changing rapidly, we are constantly looking at guidance and trying to make decisions that can accommodate all of our attendees and ensure a safe gathering. The safety of our attendees is a priority. The rules now match the TPAC 2022 Health rules.

All TPAC participants are expected to comply with the health & safety requirements.

On-site W3C rules

For on-site prompt assistance, please use the irc channel #tpac-help: one of our health-rules representatives will assist you.

Please be advised that a risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any event or public space. By attending the event, you acknowledge this inherent risk.

Note that the rules may change depending on the health situation.

Entry requirements

You will find below the current event entry requirements:

• Attendance: The whole event (meetings and social event) will be restricted to TPAC attendees and guests.

  All attendees shall respect the personal boundaries of all fellow participants. Please be aware of and respect the personal boundaries of your fellow participants.

• Vaccination: To attend TPAC you must be vaccinated according to home country protocols unless medically exempted (by a doctor).

• TPAC attendees must wear a mask at all times in all common spaces and meeting rooms, except when consuming food or beverages. (See the ‘event safety measures’ section below for more details about food and beverages consumption.)

  Only exception: Mask may be removed indoors if requested as an accommodation by a deaf or hard-of-hearing participant, but not in meeting rooms.

  Authorized masks are:

  Surgical mask N95 respirator KN95 respirator FFP2 respirator KF94 respirator

  (‘N95’ is defined in US standard 42 CFR 84 and Canadian standard CSA Z94.4.1. ‘KN95’ in Chinese standard GB 2626-2019. ‘FFP2’ in European standard EN 149-2001. ‘KF94’ in Korean standard KMOEL–2017-64.)

  FFP2 respirator types which will be available at the registration desk.

  We highly recommend wearing KN95 and N95 types which will be available at the registration desk.

  The mask should cover the nose and mouth, and be secured under the chin.

  The access to the TPAC sessions will be refused if attendees do not agree to wear a mask.

• We will provide COVID rapid antigen test kits each day to meeting attendees.

  Each attendee will agree to take a COVID rapid antigen test each day before attending an in-person event and will agree not to attend in-person events for the remainder of TPAC if the test results indicate the attendee is likely to have COVID.

  Also, if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms of COVID-19 during the day, please immediately self-isolate in your hotel room and away from others:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or running nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

• Positive tests and contact tracing: If you test positive, make sure to contact the TPAC organizers at health@w3.org who will assist you with:

  • contact tracing
  • doctors appointments if needed
  • getting a PCR test
  • contacting employers
  • extending hotel bookings
  • etc.

On-site COVID antigen test assistance for blind or low vision attendees:

Designated Team (who have themselves tested negative for Covid within 8 hours), will be available to assist blind or low vision attendees with the Covid test taking process. Team will be available 30 minutes before the meetings each morning, Monday -Friday, to go to a room near the registration desk to assist.

Either inquire at the registration desk or we can make arrangements to connect you directly with a Team person.

While we are not able to provide Ellume or other accessible Covid tests on site, will reimburse attendees who require accessible COVID tests and purchase them for use at TPAC up to $30 per unit per day with receipts, upon request.

Event safety measures

Measures that we will set up to ensure the safety of all participants:

• KN95 and N95 masks will be available at the registration desk.
• COVID rapid antigen tests will be distributed to meeting attendees.
• Disinfecting wipes as well as hand sanitizers will be available in each meeting room and common space.
• Attendees will be able to indicate social distancing rules preference they expect from others.
• It is the responsibility of everyone to maintain personal hygiene, including washing hands frequently.
• In each meeting room: the attendees will remain seated according to the room setup. Chairs and tables will not be moved around.
• For breaks, lunches and social event: Breaks will be exclusively outside, lunches and social event will be both outside and inside space have been arranged.
• Lunches will be boxed lunches.
• Food will be forbidden into the meeting rooms and will be consumed at the breaks and meals dedicated space. You may only remove your mask while drinking, and must put your mask back on immediately afterwards. Masks must be absolutely worn while speaking.
• The health rules will be reminded regularly.
• Attendees should comply with all signage and instructions from staff.
• Outside of the TPAC venue: we recommend that attendees wear a mask in all indoor public space. For meals in public places, try to isolate from others or limit the number of guests at one table, choose the most well-ventilated space, or outside space.
• Presentations in plenary sessions: Presenters may remove mask while presenting on stage (but multiple presenters on stage simultaneously must all agree if any are to remove their mask).
