Meeting minutes

slh: need to follow up with APA on symposium report

Publication checks

<shawn> https://www.w3.org/WAI/cc/wiki/WAI_Announcement_Drafts#Upcoming_Publications

slh: WCAG 2.2 timeline?

it´s just a Proposed Rec, but we expect attention, so should prep

same for a WCAG 3 WD

for WCAG 2.2 Rec, we could do a press release, do we want to?

rbm: last week July / first week August for 2.2 Rec

mc: depends on the PR being published this week, might slip to next week

slh: keep me in loop in timing updates

rbm: will do

slh: re the talking points, WCAG 3 we´re probably a couple weeks out

rbm: we´re close, balancing priorities

slh: summarizing dates, not we don´t want the two WCAG versions published too close to each other

rbm: how imporant is press release?

slh: in initial discussion with Comm, we decided it´s less of a deal than 2.1

testimonials are part of a press release, there can be advantages to having orgs say they support 2.2

it does take a lot of time

rbm: I lean towards no, but can be convinced, will follow up in email

gk: a lot of specs will be updated based on the Rec

that makes it a big deal

slh: agree we need to get the info out

do we need to do in press release format?

rbm: what is work / value ratio?

we have a lot going on, I´d rather not add work

lw: consider this is also from the new W3C

note that WCAG is a keyword now

this is an opportunity for W3C to tell its new story with a new version of a high profile standard

that appeals not just to the techies, but to the managers

for sure word will get out, but a press release will draw attention

rbm: that´s compelling

lw: this is also a way to promote WAI

and solicit testimonials about the impact of WAI on the world

I´m interested to help see this happen

rbm: we have to do this in a month?

slh: yes, but we need runway for reviews, translations, draft for testimonials

rbm: let´s look for a time to get together

lw: insert essential / core W3C activity wording if you can

<Zakim> maryjom, you wanted to say WCAG2ICT also intends to publish a FPWD in July

mjm: expect to publish WCAG2ICT draft soon, hopefully end of July

are there timing considerations around these publications?

this version will include the 2.1 criteria

we were waiting for 2.2 to stabilize before tackling that

mc: how does this timing fit with the early July and early Aug pubs?

rbm: if you can bring to group mid July, with first draft review it will probably take to mid Aug to pub

mjm: ok

AOB

mck: as TPAC approaches, would like a strategy for publication of ARIA APG

can we coordinate TPAC meetings here?

various stakeholders we want to review

also want to subsume some related resources

potentially including WhatWG and OpenUI resources

mc: suggest get an meeting schedule as part of ARIA meeting, and use WAI cc list to announce

ts: some board / AB people pulling together a meeting

jn: keep ARIA chairs in loop

mck: yup

Publishing WG

ts: the EPub WG has closed

the Publishing WG is doing maintenance

the community group will do epub development

we´ll keep working on accessibility in W3C

gk: we´re working on updating the user experience guide a11y metadata
