Lionel_Wolberger: Away next Monday, 3 July
Sharon: We're planning to skip--4th of July week
Lionel: 10th OK & 17 OK for me
Lionel: Will be in Australia from 24th until 7th August; back 14 August
<janina> s/14th/21st/
janina: Suggests we will need to meet because we want to be prepared for TPAC
Issue 240, w3c/adapt#240
lionel: We'll come back to 240 when Russell gets on Zoom with audio!
TPAC prep (break-out, hand-out, authoring tool) - https://www.w3.org/2023/09/TPAC/
<Russell> I will be joining
matt: I have Janina's list--coming ...
<matatk> Proposed agenda from Janina's email:
<matatk> When we do reconvene, though, we should lay out a strategy that gets us to TPAC with some key deliverables:
<matatk> Matthew's Authoring Tool--at least showable
<matatk> A prototype user agent that will display AAC -- Extension?
<matatk> Some marked up content
<matatk> Gap Analysis; especially rebuttal to "unicode is enough"
<matatk> A handout/single-screen demo of a concept displayed in multiple AAC symbol sets. The point is to illustrate why unicode doesn't suffice as the db key.
Authoring Tool
Lionel_Wolberger: Curate our messaging around it
Lionel_Wolberger: But it also does rendering, some is an implementation
matatk: There enough to show usability and that adding AAC is not onorous
matatk: Can also be a breakout; showing authoring as well as rendering
matatk: so far more hands on thatn before
matatk: same code builds browser extension, in order to show switching symbols
matatk: and we'll need to do testing to show we meet our CR's RFC2119 reqs in order to advance the spec to PR
janina: Asks if ready for demo by TPAC
matatk: yes, a contrived demo where we know the other symbol sets and will work live
Russell: I'm in an AI project where people are starting to work in this space, could we intro it there now? Could you spare an hour for that group?
matatk: Absolutely
matatk: phps if a separate team makes an implementation it'd be OK
matatk: not sure my tool will support the more highly generative Bliss
matatk: Goal here was to show how easy to support AAC in content
Russell: Will miss 3 weeks on vacation; will schedule for end of July or just beyond
Lionel_Wolberger: brilliant tool at creating ml; how do we do the more minimal ml, like chapters in an mp4
Lionel_Wolberger: can help an ordered list be scannable by all kinds of people; neuro diverse
matatk: Wow, I didn't know I did that!
matatk: highlights warning -- unsure whether OK to put explanation when explain is there -- what's the impact of using this, close, not close enough?
Russell: different word forms within Bliss -- OK to change tenses, etc; typical user conversing in Bliss won't bother that much
Russell: facility is there and a sophisticated implementation would; implementation would be more complex esp when one goes to other langs
Russell: most other symbol sets don't have that sophistication; so not a major issue for the field in general
Lionel_Wolberger: shows pictogram and wonders about swapping
janina: Notes that registry is where that happens, not needed for CR proofs
Lionel_Wolberger: also note we want individual words, bullets, not whole sentences
Lionel_Wolberger: but not necessarily full sentences; the minimal is the more important for most of the community
Lionel_Wolberger: this is coming out of A11y for Children
example page
janina: Suggests git fork of ADA complaint form
Lionel_Wolberger: Shows ADA file a complaint form
Lionel_Wolberger: notes about 5 screens to the form
Lionel_Wolberger: zakim, take jup item 3
