McCool: did not go through PRs last time

CR Publication

19 January 2023 CR for WoT Discovery

McCool: official publication on Jan 19th

Remaining Problems

McCool: some DNS-SD changes didn't make it into the publication, in particular the TCP/UDP split
… we had a PR for it but it wasn't merged last time. It was overlooked.
… another issue is the missing context for DID JSON-LD objects
… I also don't think we registered the 'wot' well-known name
… we need to address these in a second CR

DNS-SD TXT assertion split: https://github.com/w3c/wot-discovery/pull/450

DID Context fix: https://github.com/w3c/wot-discovery/pull/451

Add WotThing and WotDirectory service types: https://github.com/w3c/did-spec-registries/pull/486

McCool: the PRs change many files. need to be careful not to replace something by mistake
… the DID change adds an assertion

Farshid: the URL is given but it doesn't resolve as the ontology is missing

Kaz: if the change is limited to DID, we don't need to re-publish the CR

McCool: we are adding an assertion which is a normative change, and fixing the example which is non-normative
… we could simply refer to the DID spec instead of adding the assertion and ontology
… I'd like to merge these and go for the CR2
… during the two weeks period, we should also do the CoreRD registration
… members get a chance to vote for the need of CR2

McCool: Looking to get approval for merging DNS-SD split PR: https://github.com/w3c/wot-discovery/pull/450

<McCool> proposal: Discovery TF agrees to merge updates to index.html in PR #450 (only; PR will be updated) in draft CR2

RESOLUTION: Discovery TF agrees to merge updates to index.html in PR #450 (only; PR will be updated) in draft CR2

Kaz: from my viewpoint, this change was caused by some kind of bug fix, so we should talk with PLH before submitting actual CR2 transition request to him.

McCool: PR DID context fix (https://github.com/w3c/wot-discovery/pull/451) uses a provisional URL, but we need to make sure it will be valid
… the URL adds a sub-path to those used for discovery's ontology

<McCool> proposal: Discovery TF agrees to merge updates to index.html in PR #451 (only; PR will be updated) in draft CR2

RESOLUTION: Discovery TF agrees to merge updates to index.html in PR #451 (only; PR will be updated) in draft CR2

Kaz: What do you mean by "CR2" here? As I mentioned, we should talk with PLH again about how to deal with the updated draft before sending the next transition request so that we can see which would fit CR or PR.

McCool: we'll update the working draft for now which would be used as basis for the a proposed CR2 draft

Next Charter

McCool: we have several work items such as thing model, jsonpath, query filters, geolocation, security scheme ontology, signing

McCool: we also need to discuss backward compatibility issues with TD

Cristiano: for backward compatibility, there are a lot of blockers for server developers. But it would be a nice addition for users.

Current draft: https://github.com/w3c/wot/blob/main/charters/wot-wg-2023-draft.html

Rendered from main: https://w3c.github.io/wot/charters/wot-wg-2023-draft.html

<McCool> https://github.com/w3c/wot/issues/1066

Kaz: Some descriptions within the draft WG Charter (and the PRs to be merged) are too specific.
… A Charter document is a planning document, and the details need to be decided by the WGs later.
… We don't need to stop gathering input itself, but should clarify the expected level and granularity of the description for the WG Charter before getting too detail descriptions on each deliverable.

<Mizushima> +1 kaz

McCool: yeah, don't disagree...

Implementation Report

Update Implementation Report - Jan 2023: https://github.com/w3c/wot-discovery/pull/459

McCool: there are some conflicts. Needs more work.

Testing

McCool: still a lot of open at-risk items
… to be discussed in the next call
… will merge https://github.com/w3c/wot-testing/pull/529 which impacts the discovery report.
