Meeting minutes
UI components
martin: created the UI component spec
… in the Packaging spec, we included references to web components
martin: in the new explainer, I added data binding
… and other information
… information about the type of elements
… checkboxes, etc.
… compare it with PWAs and the rest of the Web standards, mainly HTML and DOM
… I already received some comments from xfq
… once we get the consensus to go ahead
… we can start working on the spec
… I have addressed all comments xfq provided
… once we decided the scope of the document, we can start working on the document
… I think a way to move this forward is to create a WG Note
… to avoid overlapping with other W3C specs
… any comments at this point?
https://
martin: I've tried to extract info from three miniapp implementations
… I tried to create big blocks of info
… the essence is the same, the implementations are different
Zitao_Wang: I think this explainer is the consensus of our previous meetings
… maybe we can write it based on the scope mentioned in the explainer
… if we can find a way to publish a Note, we can work on a CSS profile
… new components
… would like Dan Zhou and others to review and refine it
… call for co-editors
… like the white paper
Dan_Zhou: ok
… I'd be happy to
martin: feel free to comment on GitHub
Dan_Zhou: any comments?
QingAn: no update on IoT
Widget
Xiaoping_Zhao: no update for the widget spec
Xiaoping_Zhao: I have updates on file handling in widgets, though
[Xiaoping shares his screen]
Xiaoping_Zhao: we have done research about file handling in other platforms
… the Web, Quick Apps, WeChat, Baidu, Alipay
… we suggest that we create a new document for file handling
xfq: does the new document document an API to access files, or a URL pattern?
Xiaoping_Zhao: both
martin: regarding the first part, how to refer the resources in the component...
… at least how to handle these URI, it's something we need to describe
Xiaoping_Zhao: yes
martin: the definition of these APIs is something we need for the spec, I agree we need it
Dan_Zhou: I also think these should be in the Packaging spec
… other spec can refer to the Packaging
martin: there are two parts, how to refer, and how to manage/describe
Xiaoping_Zhao: yes, we are thinking about it
… do you have any suggestion regarding the second one?
martin: not sure if it's only for MiniApps
… there are several APIs related about this topic
… we need to invest some time thinking about it
… I'll be glad to work with you on this
Testing
Zitao_Wang: maybe we can create an open-source project in the Open Atom Foundation
… I have discussed with my colleagues internally, and they support this
… I want to discuss with you
… what do you think?
Dan_Zhou: have you talked with QingAn?
Zitao_Wang: I discussed with QingAn in hangzhou
… he need more resources from Alibaba
Dan_Zhou: we also need more resources
martin: I believe this is important
… not just testing the specs, but also validate the miniapps follow the standards
… like the Nu Html Checker and EPUBCheck
AOB
Dan_Zhou: any other topic?
Zitao_Wang: WG rechartering
… anything we need to move from CG to WG?
Dan_Zhou: I don't know the criteria
Zitao_Wang: I don't know either
… but I think UI components work is important
… and maybe widget
[QingAn left]
Zitao_Wang: for IoT, we can discuss when QingAn is here
Zitao_Wang: we can edit the charter online
xfq: we need to have a clear scope if we want to move the UI Component to the WG
Zitao_Wang: agree
https://
Dan_Zhou: what's the rechartering process?
xfq: we need to write the draft charter, then horizontal review, then W3C team & Member review
martin: I agree we need to add some text for components
… but not necessarily a normative document
… can be a Note
xfq: it depends what we want to define in the Note, does it require patent protection?
martin: I can create an issue
… we can discuss it in the issue
… about the type of document we need to create
Dan_Zhou: thank you
