AvneeshSingh: we are a bit slowing down because of summer holidays
… we had progress regarding MARK

<AvneeshSingh> https://github.com/w3c/epub-specs/issues/2116

AvneeshSingh: some review request will be sent out early Aug including both publishing and library community
… 3rd important piece is a11y summary guidelines

<AvneeshSingh> https://w3c.github.io/publ-a11y/drafts/schema-a11y-summary/

AvneeshSingh: GeorgeK and Charles are still discussing about this document, might change later on

Bill_Kasdorf_: there is a very rich metadata header (JATS?) used by publishers, they are also starting working on a11y support

<tzviya> /me JATS

Bill_Kasdorf_: about JATS, it's very interesting that the metadata is embedded into assets of articles
… first meeting in the iso group is this Friday
… at 10 AM EDT

GeorgeK: Having right metadata in JATS as crosswalk is super important

Bill_Kasdorf_: just notes, the group is developing best practice on JATS
… will share links later

Note: JATS: https://jats.nlm.nih.gov/

wolfgang: next agenda item, update on education use case

Paul: not much update yet, went through github template of creating usecases. Having difficulty of recruiting crew members yet
… if any suggestion on forming a group?

Bill_Kasdorf_: I can help with the subgroup

GeorgeK: I am working on high education a11y. We also have been trying to connect to K12 group
… getting use cased from K12 community would be really good
… We can have a call after this meeting
… all the members in CG are listed in here https://www.w3.org/groups/cg/publishingcg/participants
… can also start from there

Gautier: I am interested in education and can help with the task force

Bill_Kasdorf_: one aspect is epub but it's more on web rather than just epub

<AvneeshSingh> +1 Bill, it should not be over focused on EPUB

GeorgeK: The program running in Benetech might be a good place to recruit

pbelfanti: might also need some editorial side of members

tzviya: also need to be aware of scope of w3c, can start with writing use case from small problem

CharlesL: I can send out to the group in Benetech to see if could collect some use cases

wolfgang: next agenda item is future focus on publishing community group

tzviya: the epub working group is trying to looking for what problems and what's going wrong about epub. Give us problems then we can start experiment
… we are preparing a publishing salon

GeorgeK: I think we might want to expand the definition of publishing
… we have been promoting professionals to moving away from pdf and move to epub
… most thing we found problem in pdf is a11y
… as well as AI and a11y reading system, plenty things to talk about

Bill_Kasdorf_: We need some dialog between biz and tech group to ask deeply about what is the problem

<pbelfanti> Apologies, I need to drop

<wolfgang> @pbelfanti: thanks for joining us! Have a nice afternoon!

Bill_Kasdorf_: one benefit we can see is connection with W3C
… the other is documentation, output can be tracked in community group
