Meeting minutes

<jasonjgw> I'm receiving audio, but mine obviously wasn't working for some reason - trying again.

<Jpaton> John_Paton present+

Miscellaneous topics.

janina: need to begin organizing for TPAC, even though it is a ways off

janina: will be good to know who might be able to go to Vancouver in person

janina: This info helps the W3C with hotel contracts

scott_h: How soon do we need an answer about TPAC?

janina: Just knowing if probable or possible is OK for now

raja: "I think so, yes"

Inaccessibility of CAPTCHA.

janina: Still in the research phase

janina: Still trying to determine status of the trust token concept

janina: One conceptual aspect is getting a new appreciation for industry specific terminology like "edge computing"

jasonjgw: Blog post by Jeff Houston provided an interesting perspective on centralization

janina: Example of how audio phrases are immediately turned into text for further processing in voice assistant technology

jasonjgw: Created a GitHub placeholder for updates to the CAPTCHA document

Synchronization Accessibility User Requirements.

jasonjgw: One more addition to SAUR was completed and merged

jasonjgw: Only other point was additional recommendations

jasonjgw: Should be in the main branch now

<Joshue108> SN: There are some cases where, its hard to set fast rules

<Joshue108> For example video description

<Joshue108> SN: by nature you need to wait so as not to mask dialogue

<Joshue108> Same with SL syncing

<Joshue108> Different kind of translation

<Joshue108> so they are hard to set rules.

<Joshue108> SN: We could do an additional run to see where we can do that more affirmatively in each section - or create sub section at the end.

janina: Can look at what we did with MAUR on allowing user to pause some streams

janina: Good to do last read through

Raja: sometimes it is helpful to show the absence of information, as in no voicing or no audio

Raja: That way the user does not have to wonder about whether there is some content they are missing

janina: Also need to look at metadata information that provides details that indicate accessibility techniques used in a given resource

janina: We have the ability to maintain a metadata database at the W3C

jasonjgw: Suggest we look at Places where we can be more explicit about recommendations in the SAUR

jasonjgw: Come back next week on this?

janina: We can consider some language about accessibility metadata

Joshue108: Messaging?

janina: Hold off for now until we have more info

<Joshue108> JOC: All good

Natural Language Interface Accessibility User Requirements.

jasonjgw: There are a number of open issues

<Joshue108> https://raw.githack.com/w3c/apa/naur_coga_edits_2022/naur/index.html

Joshue108: There are a number of COGA issues still open

<Joshue108> JOC: Here is a new branch with some of the suggested edits from the COGA comments

<Joshue108> Lisa felt this is not editorial Overview of main relevant 'Content Usable' sections #271

<Joshue108> https://github.com/w3c/apa/issues/271

<Joshue108> https://w3c.github.io/coga/issue-papers/voice-menus.html

Joshue108: Lots of suggestions from a voice-menu paper

<Joshue108> Containa suggestions related to this document

Joshue108: More feedback was requested

Joshue108: It was unclear which issues they think need to be cited

janina: We don't cite the wiki papers

janina: We look for 3rd party research work, academic journal articles, specifications, etc

janina: Do individual personas have an ID ref?

Joshue108: Could ask for specific sections - more clarity

janina: Plain language is not an easy concept to pin down

jasonjgw: Creating concise summaries of extended documents is a very difficult task - for example, an abstract of a dissertation takes an extreem amount of work

jasonjgw: Acknowledges Jeff Stanley from the MITRE corporation

Jeff: Excited to collaborate and help with adding to the MAUR

introductions...

Ronna ten Brink from MITRE also on call

Jeff: we are looking forward to future work

jasonjgw: Quick comments remaining??

Jeff: will continue email discussions with Josh

jasonjgw: As soon as you are fully integrated with the Task Force you should have access to all the resources

jasonjgw: other thougts?

jasonjgw: We'll push forward with getting the SAUR wrapped up
