Tools for converting standards to vendor-specific implementations

[Zitao_Wang shows a tool for converting standard miniapp manifest to a vendor-specific implementation, HarmonyOS JS FA]

Zitao_Wang: using HarmonyOS JS FA IDE

Dan_Zhou: is HarmonyOS JS FA the same as Quick Apps?

Zitao_Wang: They are similar, but not exactly the same. Both belong to implementations of MiniApps.

Zitao_Wang: Quick Apps focus on native rendering, while HarmonyOS JavaScript FA focuses on one-time development for multi-device deployment

Dan_Zhou: Other miniapp vendors can also write similar conversion tools

Zitao_Wang: We can discuss the design of the tool.

Dan_Zhou: the template format has not yet been finalized, so we can only convert the manifest now

Dan_Zhou: what's the timeline?

Zitao_Wang: would like to present it in a TPAC breakout session as a demo
… any other vendor interested in working with us?

Dan_Zhou: sounds interesting, we should have a special meeting to discuss this
… how about 13 Oct?
… to present our own version about this tool?
… xfq, could you help schedule a meeting?

xfq: sure

Zitao_Wang: each vendor can develop its own tools first. In the future, we can develop a unified tool together.

Dan_Zhou: I agree

Zitao_Wang: this is screenshot of a tool that help align the standards with our current implementation on MiniApp platform
… this demo is specially designed for MiniApp Manifest
… we will trying to make it open-source

Dan_Zhou: QingAn, is Alibaba willing to work with us?

[very noisy background]

Dan_Zhou: ok, I'll talk with other vendors offline, f.ex, Xiaomi

Zitao_Wang: maybe each vendor can start experiments in the next two months, not likely to reach on consensus in such short time

TPAC Planning

MiniApps WG

Dan_Zhou: what should be on the agenda?

xfq: WG will be meeting on 28 Oct for 2 hours
… CG were invited to a joint meeting
… what topics you would like to discuss?
… like IoT, Component?
… which hour you would like to join?

Dan_Zhou: WG first

Zitao_Wang: what topics to discuss in CG and what topics to discuss in WG

Dan_Zhou: we are not sure if Baidu can raise any new topic this year

xfq: we can use breakout session to show recent developments, including the tools we just discussed

https://www.w3.org/wiki/TPAC/2021/SessionIdeas

QingAn: do we have enough time to have a joint discussion with other groups?
… I think we only have one hour?

xfq: yes, indeed. Maybe we can join their meetings or schedule separate joint meetings?

QingAn: could you help ask the WoT IG/WG for a 20 mins session for MiniApp-IoT?

xfq: Already asked them, no feedback yet

QingAn: for the WG-CG joint meeting, I think we already have enough topics for an one hour session?
… any deadline to raise topics to the agenda?

xfq: we can always modify the agenda
… maybe the week before TPAC?

QingAn: let's try to finalise the agenda in the meeting on 13 Oct

Zitao_Wang: agree

QingAn: Dan_Zhou and I can work on the first draft by the end of Week

IoT MiniApps

QingAn: I will prepare for an introduction in the TPAC session

AOB

[Zitao_Wang shows the tool again]

Zitao_Wang: the goal is once a developer write a standardised Manifest, it can be run on any MiniApp Platform with the help of the tool on each vendor

QingAn: as for Lifecycle, it might work for some global attributes

Dan_Zhou: it will be a useful tool for Manifest as it's static, maybe more tricky for Addressing and Lifecycle

Zitao_Wang: I think it will also work for Packaging
