Meeting minutes

Brent: Thanks for coming, today we are only looking at the title of the curricula. A discussion has started there is a GitHib isshes so let's get started
Title of WAI Curricula
Daniel: I have put together in the issue a list of pros and cons and a couple of use cases to focus the discussion. Looking at people finding it from outside of WAI/W3C what will be most informative?
Laura: I prefer Web Accessibility Curricula
Kevin: Don't feel strongly either way. Thinking of the context, it is on our site so front loading is not as important. Back loading is a bit more clunky but ither is fine.
Shawn: The issue came up when I was including it in a resource on an external list.
Shadi: WAI Curricula is an easier phrase "Have tou seen the WAI Curricula?" etc
Shawn: So you are thinking of that as the colloquial title?
Shadi: We say "The Perspectives videos" even though that is not the official name?
<estella> +1 to Shadi
Estella: I agree that if there is a way to link WAI curricula with web accessibility that is good. You have a short name like "WAI curricula" how is it related to the title?
Daniel: We could have the short name in the nav and the longer one on the page.
Shawn: In the nav it can just be "Curricula" and not need WAI
Kevin: It is problematic to conflate WAI Curricula since it is not a curricula about WAI.
Shawn: And it requires you to know about WAI
Daniel: I hear people leaning toward "Web Accessibility Curricula" is that right?
Shawn: In messaging we could encourage people to use the full title.
Brent: I am OK with either. When I read Curricula on Web Accessibility it is here is some resource that will help and is flexible. The other 'Web Accessibility Curricula' denotes a one and only way to teach the topic.
<JasonMcKee> i'm ok either "way." no pun intended
<Daniel> https://
Shawn: Does the intro page address that?
Brent: Yes and my response was just to a consideration of the title standing alone.
Brent: Looking at the whole title when I see the full title, putting "Web Accessibility Curricula" does not agree with the subtitle
Daniel: If is really does sound so commanding, that is not our intention
<kevin> +1 to Brent's comment
Laura: Now that you say it that way Brent, I do agree with you when it is next to the subtitle. Maybe a short name because I agree when you add the tag line.
Howard: I agree as well. I like the front loading of curricula and starting with 'web accessibility' sounds more authoratative than we intend.
Daniel: Yes especially since we send people to other teaching resurces in and out of WAI.
Brent: Several other resources like Easy Checks, we lead with the resource focus and follow with Web Accessibility so there is precedent.
Daniel: I propose to keep the title as is based on use cases and current discussion.
SharronR: +1

Brent: Daniel is there anything else?
Daniel: The Developer Module survey is open now to review and there will be another survey coming to review the one first page of the entire curricula.
Work for this Week
<Zakim> shawn, you wanted to comment on reviewing changes
Brent: Reminder of surveys - the current one is the Approval to Publish, please answer even to say no time for completing. Shawn will do a review of updating GitHub issues.
Shawn: We often list things in Work for the Week as GitHub issues. I am happy to show how to do this for those who need that review.
Brent: So that concludes the main topics and the formal discussion. People are welcome to leave if they do not need this review.
Shawn: Shares screen, records in Zoom, and show how to use the links in W4TW to review and comment on GitHub issues.
Brent: Are you asking people to approve in GitHub?
Shawn: No, if there are no objections to a minor issue, no need to do that.
Brent: Thank you Shawn, anything else?
… thanks for joining today and helping to finalize the title.
