DCAT subgroup

riccardoAlbertoni: we stopped activities during holidays
… DCAT 3 was published before the holidays
… we've started spreading the word
… to get feedback
… maybe members of the group can help

<riccardoAlbertoni> https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JdX5QAbBrHonCYJCFeOGAz0QfbBou0I_MDWEPlVYK0c/edit?ts=5fdb1f0f

<riccardoAlbertoni> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_f5CAZv7rgUjJH5YXkmD6w5xS6GX5X2AmEp_LMptAfQ/edit#gid=560881316

riccardoAlbertoni: this is the list of the request for feedback, and the list of persons to contact
… I can provide access to whoever asks
… we will resume regular sub-groups meetings

<Rachel> can you please share the sub group next call details ?

riccardoAlbertoni: we have 95 issues currently open

<riccardoAlbertoni> https://github.com/w3c/dxwg/projects

riccardoAlbertoni: this is the project list, organized by Andrea

riccardoAlbertoni: we are going to share the agenda asap

Caroline_: does the first link (letter) need to be closed?
… can we make suggestions?

riccardoAlbertoni: we've already sent some messages
… it's never too late, but it should be important :-)
… we can share the letter with anyone who is interested in contacting people

Caroline_: maybe you could open access to everyone?

riccardoAlbertoni: it should be open now

Caroline_: are you still meeting according to the regular schedule and the wiki?

riccardoAlbertoni: we send the details. People seem not able to access the details for the calls on the wiki

<Caroline_> https://www.w3.org/2017/dxwg/wiki/Meetings

riccardoAlbertoni: yes we still put meetings there

AndreaPerego: we usually send the agenda on the mailing list

<AndreaPerego> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-dxwg-wg/2020Dec/0005.html

AndreaPerego: regarding the letter template, the same text has been sent to the mailing list (link above)

PROF

Caroline_: we should reach out to Nick and Rob

Feedback sought on reorganizing the list of W3C Technical Reports

<Caroline_> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/spec-prod/2021JanMar/0001.html

Caroline_: if you can have a look, it's useful
… Dominique is asking feedback

<Caroline_> Antoine: it does seem a good idea

<Caroline_> ... what would be the idea for grouping

<Caroline_> ... there will be some discussion about the logical grouping

<Caroline_> ... using semantic web could be useful

<Caroline_> ... I am wondering if using the WG as additional layer

<Caroline_> ... could work

annette_g: I agree, organizing by subject grouping makes sense
… doing it by activity could make sense on the top level
… doing it by wg could be problematic if some items change ownership
… the current proposal looks quite unevenly balanced
… it would be good to have more balanced distribution

+1

AndreaPerego: there are still too many groups
… maybe there could be some faceted search
… it's difficult to scroll down
… looking at the variety and quantity of reports, it could make sense to have different ways of grouping
… for example XML technology, or Semantic Web vocabularies
… or most recent versions, or status of document

<annette_g> +1 for faceted search

<riccardoAlbertoni> +1 to grouping by facets (e.g., group, activity, inprogress, )

AndreaPerego: maybe using an approach like the one of data catalogs (faceted search) could help
… people to find what they're looking for

plh: a a bit of history
… the TR page was a flat list
… it was changed 15 years ago, putting specs in buckets.
… 7 or 8 families of buckets
… people were complaining about the difficulty of finding things
… 3-4 years ago we went back to the list approach
… but with a search function
… we wanted to keep things as simple as possible
… we have hired a professional information/page expert

<plh> https://www.w3.org/TR/

plh: The current page defines what is a recommendation and what is not, to some extent

plh: people should feel free to comment here or on the mailing list

<plh> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/spec-prod/2021JanMar/0001.html

annette_g: it's clear it will need some kind of searching/filtering
… if there's a design team thinking about it, I feel confident about it

antoine: would replying by pointing to minutes ok?

plh: yes
… I can do it

<riccardoAlbertoni> https://www.w3.org/TR/?tag=data&status=rec

riccardoAlbertoni: the function allows to see e.g. things related to Semantic Web and their classification
… and it is very satisfying for me
… I am not sure that the grouping is a step forward
… maybe if some queries are not satisfied

plh the precise link is https://www.w3.org/2021/01/12-dxwg-minutes.html#t03

<Caroline_> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_f5CAZv7rgUjJH5YXkmD6w5xS6GX5X2AmEp_LMptAfQ/edit#gid=560881316

back to DCAT

Caroline_: we need to be careful about using the sheet above for contacting the appropriate people

actions

Caroline_: actions are old
… most recent one is October

Andrea: Action 434. This was not included in DCAT v3
… we'll have to discuss whether we want to include it in the next WD

Antoine: the old actions on Profile Guidance are a bit like a backlog
… not touched on since Profile Guidance is inactive

<AndreaPerego> close action-400

<trackbot> Closed action-400.

Antoine: if we could keep them for the moment, with the understanding that they are not to be progressed on right now it would be better

Caroline_: ok

Caroline_: AOB?
… meeting adjourned

<Rachel> thank bye
