Lisa suggested spending 20 minutes on the glossary

updates and actions

<LisaSeemanKest> https://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/task-forces/coga/wiki/PlanningPage#Actions_2

Going through the issues and Content Usable has been published

Any other updates from WCAG

Jennie says she does not think so.

<LisaSeemanKest> https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IvGkrwsf504pXohTp0AnM8iiApFt8StOhGcGihpCyBI/edit#

Content Usable wide review draft published - a page has been made with draft email and where sent

John K said it was useful and has started the dissemination

One issue with feedback - more issues need addressing etc.

Jennie has a public news letter asked if she could publish the link and Lisa confirmed we need a wide review and last chance to respond

Jennie said it will go out on Tuesday

David asked in the link to the doc will change and Lisa confirmed thinks it stays the same

Roy and Michael thanked for final edits

next steps

Lisa suggested we think about the next steps.

<LisaSeemanKest> https://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/task-forces/coga/wiki/PlanningPage#Next_draft

Ideas can be changed and Lisa has provided a link to priority 1 items in the planning page

Glossary of critical terms needed and possibly image for good and bad practice and punctual policy may be necessary. Mapping and appendix has been done.

Lisa is shifting items to priority 2 - links to cross reference and WCAG 2.2 moved to wiki.

Also other items being shifted such as personas etc. Ideas for next version need to be included.

Rachel mentioned that images for good and bad practice could be hard to achieve in the time.

<Jennie> +1 to one more editorial review

Lisa asked if we need another editorial review... need to build in time for punctuation and consistent terms.

Rachael agreed and cross referencing may need to be worked on in the coming months.

Lisa asked about business section and Rachael felt that might be easier than policy section.

Lisa has updated the document based on Rachael's comments.

John K asked if there was going to be another editorial review - Lisa suggested that this should happen after the glossary completion

EA +1 to Rachael's repy

Rachael said concentrate on issues and glossary before final review. - John also mentioned asking a graphic's person to help.

<Jennie> +1 to graphics people - I may have a few people that may be interested in helping if they have instructions

<Rachael> +1 to subgroup on images and work that while the main group works issues

Lisa suggested that the images could start now as that would be done in parallel

Lisa asked if EA ad Jennie would be willing to be in a subgroup - with clear guidance etc.

Jennie propose that we have a subgroup with interested people and define suitable types of images and then work together to make selections - need concrete instructions

<Jennie> +1 to Lisa's suggestion - the more feedback prior to the ask going to graphics people will be really important so they only have to make them once and then slight edits

Lisa suggested a 2-step approach so we can bounce it to others when completed to make sure everyone is happy with the ideas. Lisa suggested several names so that we do not miss additional guidance to include gender, diversity and cultural issues

Lisa suggested that we need to take care and send out proposed instructions early on

EA +1

<kirkwood> +1

<Jennie> I would like to be in the subgroup

<Fazio> me too

<Jennie> I can do that

Lisa said this can be done at the same time as the glossary items that need resolving.

Rachael needs a break from organisation

Jennie will organise the meetings for those who have volunteered to come as well as to the list

dessiminations

Lisa asked for confirmation about what is required for the next version and no one raised an issue.

<kirkwood> link?

Abi said that nothing was covered last week so will continue in the next couple of weeks before holidays

Lisa has copied across Github version upto ASD

<LisaSeemanKest> Brain injury is caused by damage to the brain which can lead to long-term impairment of executive function, memory, learning, coordination, speech and emotions as well as other physical and sensory difficulties.

<LisaSeemanKest> Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is when damage to the brain is caused by an external event. Note, this is sometimes called Acquired brain injury.

<LisaSeemanKest> Proposed replacement for the second sentence:

<LisaSeemanKest> Acquired Brain Injury is a type of brain injury that has occurred after birth and is not hereditary, congenital, degenerative. The term Acquired Brain Injury is often used to refer to non-traumatic brain injuries caused by an internal event such as a stroke or brain hemorrhage.

<LisaSeemanKest> Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is is when damage to the brain is caused by an external force such as through a fall or accident.

<Fazio> Strange mine has always been referred to as traaumtaic

<Fazio> anad I had brain aneurysm rupture into hemorrhagic stroke

<LisaSeemanKest> scribe: EA_

Lisa read out what was in the glossary for brain injury

Abi has mentioned that there are regional differences for acquired and traumatic brain injury.

Also there are differences in the medical world

David F said that he just wanted to point out there can be some difficulties with type of brain injury

Jennie mentioned that in the States there are subsets to brain injury and there have been changes over time.

John K agrees that the changes have made it probably better that there is an umbrella term of brain injury and then the subsets come under that

<Jennie> *Betsy raised her hand in Zoom - assuming she wants to be on the queue

<Fazio> we are peas in a pod John

Keeping it general probably makes it easier as much can depend on the way funding is dealt with in different states and coutries.

Lisa suggested using the term 'sometimes called' but John felt that might be too specific.

Brain injury including all types of acquired and traumatic injury was suggested

Betsy says from a clinical standpoint she agrees and TVI might need to be added. David agreed

<LisaSeemanKest> Brain injury -including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Acquired Brain Injury, areis caused by damage to the brain which can lead to long-term impairment of executive function, memory, learning, coordination, speech and emotions as well as other physical and sensory difficulties.

Sorry TBI not TVI

<Jennie> -1

Lisa suggested damage to the brain that can lead to long term impairment

Jennie mentioned people might want to know the difference between TBI and other types of brain injury.

<Jennie> +1 to David F's suggestion - that works for me too

<Abi> -1

David suggested just adding the causes away from the actual terms.

<Fazio> +1

<kirkwood> +1 don’t need cause

<LisaSeemanKest> +1

Abi brought it back to why we are writing about causes as we need to keep it to what is relevant to the actual document

<kirkwood> no need for cause. maybe just the list

<Fazio> Thanks for articulating that better than I did Jennie +1

Jennie like the idea of keeping the initial paragraph and then say this includes some key causes such as stroke, trauma etc.

<Fazio> blunt force trauma

Jennie suggested plain language and Lisa added some other words to keep it simple

<Fazio> genetic or birth defect

<Fazio> that's the congenital part

<Jennie> David F - got a specific one to name?

Lisa - genetic condition but that is not a brain injury.

Abi mentioned that can happen at any stage of life - birth to adulthood.

EA says this is getting very long...

<kirkwood> “esults in a change to the brain’s neuronal activity”

<Fazio> good point

<Fazio> +1

Brain injury v brain damage

<LisaSeemanKest> Brain injury -including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Acquired Brain Injury, are causedareis caused by damage to the brain which can lead to long-term impairment of executive function, memory, learning, coordination, speech and emotions as well as other physical and sensory difficulties.

<LisaSeemanKest> Brain injury can have many different causes such as a conclusion or stroke and can happen at any stage of life

<Jennie> Propose comma before "and can happen at any stage of life."

<kirkwood> only problem i have is with term “difficulties” all good

concussion

<kirkwood> https://www.biausa.org/brain-injury/about-brain-injury/basics/overview

<Jennie> John K - replace with challenges?

Confusion ensued around the differences between countries

Lisa added impairments instead of difficulties.

<LisaSeemanKest> Brain injury -including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Acquired Brain Injury, are causedareis caused by damage to the brain which can lead to long-term impairment of executive function, memory, learning, coordination, speech and emotions as well as other physical and sensory impairments

Jennie prefers not to use sometimes called... prefers the dash

<kirkwood> +1

Lisa said sometimes is an overlap - where they are not necessarily equivalent terms.

<kirkwood> sometimes called denotes equivalency to me

John K said they can mean the same thing and that is a concern

Lisa suggested use 'related terms' Daivd said just say 'including...'

<LisaSeemanKest> ack -a

Abi suggested that we may need to review all the other glossary items to check this alternative would work.

EA +1

<kirkwood> +1

<kirkwood> agreed

Lisa suggested we make this a final edit issues for all the glossary entries.

<Jennie> +1 to Abi and Jennie working on a quick list

Abi suggested going through all the easy items and then tackle the more contentious ones. Lisa agreed but feels most will have to be discussed.

Abi concerned about timescale as needs to be finished by September.

Lisa asked if everyone could go through them all and then Abi and Jennie can see comment in the Google doc.
