Resolution: accept last week's minutes

DCAT 3

Caroline: it would be nice to hear from the editors

riccardoAlbertoni: we reported last call, but I realized it would be useful to talk about the meeting planning. We decided to push forward the milestones, including the families of issues about feedback. We want to consider them all before we go for any publication.
… we decided to focus on the issue related to datasets and versioning. Simon and I are in charge of the discussion for this issue. Peter volunteered to work on the structure for a DCAT primer.
… The next call is tomorrow. It's just a draft, so there is room for suggestions.

Caroline: Thanks, Riccardo. Have you decided to keep the call the same?

riccardoAlbertoni: yes, we would like to have the meetings every 2 weeks.

Caroline: comments? questions?

silence

Conneg

ncar: we've been implementing for the past week, we've now realized one or two small things. We've only had one small change to the data model. We'll run a meeting shortly to discuss it and the IETF document. The change is that the wording we've used is that the token is not the universal identifier, it's the URI.
… otherwise, we're working on the implementation report, which will let us move to either another working draft or a candidate recommendation.

Caroline: questions? comments?

crickets

kcoyle: do we know where the IETF effort is?

ncar: we did, I'm trying to get hold of Lars for another update. They did indicate that things were looking favorable. We need a meeting to confirm that.

ncar: we'll offer whatever help may be needed.

Caroline: you're in touch with Lars, right?

ncar: yes, he changed jobs but still is working with us.

Caroline: anything else?

chirp chirp

Prof

<Caroline> The Profiles Vocabulary Implementation Report https://‌raw.githack.com/‌w3c/‌dx-prof/‌impl-rpt/‌prof-implementation-report/‌index.html

ncar: we've written a draft implementation for it, just a document outline with a few implementations listed. There are five of them, expecting a sixth shortly. They are in groups independent, from different organizations.
… The note had a couple of features that we want to see those implementations cover. We'll look at those next week. We've added the test suite for prof, that we can use to validate implementations. We thought it was a good idea to publish shape files, and we put the code up for that as well.

<Caroline> Test Suite: this is contained within a branch of the dx-prof repository: https://‌github.com/‌w3c/‌dx-prof/‌tree/‌impl-rpt/‌testsuite

<Caroline> Profiles Catalogue: a openly-available catalogue of profiles is being created at https://‌w3id.org/‌profile/

ncar: Third is the profiles catalog. We needed to have identifiers, so we say for instance in the pilot tool, this is an implementation of SKOS. So we created a profiles catalog using the W3C namespace. It's unofficial, has no official status. It indicates what a catalog could be like.
… It doesn't prevent anybody else creating any other catalogs, is just an example.

kcoyle: looking at the profiles catalog, I'm not quite sure what is there and what it means. A readme under each entry, each level, would help to say what these are.

ncar: the central goal is to provide URIs for profiles. mechanically, it's doing that now, but it doesn't have everything people need yet. It gives a very simple rendering of the RDF. Later it should be able to let people submit an RDF and we'll give it a URI, including a description in the index.

kcoyle: Are you seeing this as a list of prof instances that have been created?

ncar: yes, the motivator is that the pilot tool, for the profile that is declared, you need a token on the command line, and a writeup of what's in the profile and what's out.

kcoyle: do these connect to the implementations?

ncar: at the moment, it counts as one

kcoyle: In your implementation report, you have implementations. Will these be linked to the catalog?

ncar: the catalog is one implementation.

<ncar> ncar: the catalogue includes multiple instances of PROF but is listed as a single "implementation" in the Implementation Report since all the instances are similar

Caroline: anything else about this topic? or any others?

riccardoAlbertoni: out of curiosity, for Nick, have you promoted the vocabulary and are you looking to other communities.

ncar: we've connected with other groups, particularly ODRL
… We have examples of what they've done, we've offered the prof mechanics of how they could profile their stuff.

Caroline: anything else?

nada

Open Actions

Caroline: for nick, action 413

ncar: I tried to address it by asking Lars when he's available. We'll do a poll after that. maybe Mon Tues Wed next week.

Caroline: It would be nice to gather more people.

ncar: I just want to get Lars back on board and then arrange a time with a poll after that.

Caroline: change it?

ncar: make it "in progress"

Caroline: next one?

ncar: we started, but it's not complete

close action 414

<ncar> close action-414

<trackbot> Closed action-414.

Caroline: riccardo, you had an action.

riccardoAlbertoni: it's still in progress

Caroline: Annette, you have action 419

That's not done yet

Caroline: nothing pending review.
… anything else to discuss in this meeting?

riccardoAlbertoni: Should we try to have a delayed schedule instead of every week, like the DCAT group?
… switch between the two each week?

Caroline: I haven't done that before.

riccardoAlbertoni: I just remember that we used to have that in other groups, but we haven't in this group.

Caroline: we did for DWBP.

Caroline: I think it's a great idea, but I think we need to discuss with Peter, Phillipe, maybe the plenary.

Action: caroline to talk to Peter and Phillipe about possibly doing plenary meetings every other week.

<trackbot> Created ACTION-420 - Talk to peter and phillipe about possibly doing plenary meetings every other week. [on Caroline Burle - due 2020-05-05].

riccardoAlbertoni: There is the risk that discussions slow down a bit, but maybe that's okay.

Caroline: Let's see what P and P say about it.
… I think for a while we've been having fewer attendees. It might be better to meet less frequently to get richer discussions.
… anyone else want to comment?

kcoyle: I have a vague recollection that we started to do this and then ended up in a situation where we had to push for deadlines. But it might make sense to put more effort into subgroups.

Caroline: now might be a good time, given there is not a big deadline at the moment.

anything else?

goose egg

Let's adjourn a little early today. If I have news before next week, I'll send an email out.

<riccardoAlbertoni> bye !!!

<Ana> thank you all, bye
