<LisaSeemanKest> regrets, Jennie, EA, John R

<LisaSeemanKest> no quarum so far

<LisaSeemanKest> scribe: Rachael

Lisa: No quorum at this time.

CSUN update and end of year brake

Lisa: Proposal that we skip the 26th of December and 2nd of January. So we'd meet on December 12 and 19.
... we will move forward with that. Even without Quorum we can get things done.

Rachael: We couldn't get everyone together. Proposign a joint conversation at the end of Tuesday with Silver to work on testable statements followed up with a dinner for anyone there.

Actions: https://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/task-forces/coga/wiki/PlanningPage#Actions

David: Suggest a face to face in conjunction with M-enabling (June 22ish)

LIsa: How is WCAG going?

David: Info in Steps was received well. We got comments but everyone agrees with it.
... once info in steps is resolved, I can start to work on the mental health paper. Hopefully starting this weekend.

Lisa: Great. We want to get it into the next iteration.
... The updated timeline for this iteration is April 2020 https://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/task-forces/coga/wiki/PlanningPage#updated_time_line_-April_2020
... we are behind so we need to finish the mental health paper within the next two weeks.

<LisaSeemanKest> https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xmmQkuZLEG014zDRVkgr3QLyINb7BNvWxqL7POn6Ei8/edit#

Lisa: we've already slipped a bit so we need to catch up
... We wrote the user needs and are now mapping it. If you take a look, we wrote it, reduced the redundancy and started mapping them to the challenges and pattterns. Rachael took a first pass but Lisa is taking a second. Lisa did the challenges. We have persona's with challenges in them.

<johnkirk_> i can hear you

<LisaSeemanKest> https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xmmQkuZLEG014zDRVkgr3QLyINb7BNvWxqL7POn6Ei8/edit#

<johnkirk_> voice not working great

Lisa: we want each user need to map to a persona challenge.

We want our user needs to map to the personas so people can understand the needs better.

scribe: Two questions: We made a general user need and then we have some specific user needs below it. So: Clear Purpose As a user with a memory impairment, attention impairment and/or executive function impairment, I need to know the purpose of the content so that I know if I am in the right place, and what I am doing even if I lose focus for a time.

This includes: I know what the website offers, or if I should move on I know what features and content are on this page or if I should move on I always recognize where I am in the architecture of the website, application or multi-step process, even after I get distracted I know the relationship between this page and the site/task, even after I get distracted I can easily see the context and purpose of the page In videos and multimedia: I know what is going[CUT]

Do we want each persona to map to each bullet point or is mapptin gto the higher level need enough?

David: I think keeping it short and linking to more information makes sure it is not too much information at once. To spell out everything in this format would be a bit overwhelming.

Lisa: Its just a mapping document.

Rachael: I think mapping to the higher level user need is appropriate.

<johnkirk_> yes i think that works

David: agrees

<johnkirk_> i think at a higher level makes sense

Lisa: Do we want to switch and I'll take the patterns and Rachael take the persona challenges?

<LisaSeemanKest> we have quarum i think :)

<johnkirk_> My schedule may be freeing up soon

Rachael: I am good to switch but how do we get through 35 of the new design patterns?

<johnkirk_> Its in half an hour?

David: I can join the editors call.

Lisa: We have to edit out the challenges as well. We have to use persona's that do not overlap with others to make this more efficient.
... John, would you be interested in adding to the persona on brain injury? We could add to it.

<johnkirk_> Adding to persona on brain injury, yes i'd be interested. yes

<LisaSeemanKest> https://w3c.github.io/coga/persona/index.html#tom-is-a-traumatic-brain-injury-survivor

<Fazio> Me too

<johnkirk_> in a google doc or github

<johnkirk_> ?

<Fazio> I have a TBI too

<LisaSeemanKest> As a user with a memory impairment, attention impairment and/or executive function impairment, I need to know the purpose of the content so that I know if I am in the right place, and what I am doing even if I lose focus for a time.

scribe: would you be able to work on the Tom persona? We need to get rid of challenge 2 because he's not important to us.

<johnkirk_> I prefer google doc

scribe: you could write a challenge and email or we can write a google doc? Which do you prefer?

Lisa: If someone wants to write more to flush out the beginning sentence, I think it would help people better understand.

<johnkirk_> agreed

Lisa: I don't think that describes the problem in the same way as if we added to it.

<johnkirk_> processing issues, word finding issues etc

<johnkirk_> yes

<LisaSeemanKest> https://w3c.github.io/coga/persona/index.html#tom-is-a-traumatic-brain-injury-survivor

<johnkirk_> so this is a github doc?

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aVC3Dr3HQIxwhkm7JhWEZwxNLqU3mcEatbj1odIKFWU/edit#

<johnkirk_> great

<johnkirk_> wow

<johnkirk_> "limited vision" yes we have the exact thing... hmmmm... biased story ;)

David: I know you mentioned that you want to remove the vision portion, but I think its important for this persona. If you are injured on the right side, then you lose sight.

<johnkirk_> left hemi-neglect. cognitive absolutely. language processing, etc we can expand yes, lisa

Lisa: I think we need to focus on the cognitive part. If we can state it but make it about cognitive.

<johnkirk_> and clear structure

David: The most important challenge I had was self reassurance. Being confident in comprehension. That goes towards the clear language point. Its super compounded because you are unsure.

<johnkirk_> I'm not sure if i fully understand

Lisa: You had written about the hierarchy. Knowing where you are in the content. Is that something that speaks to you?
... you wrote some of the patterns for that
... We also need personas for aphasia and adhd
... I will try to take this up.
... actually EA has these so we will circle back.
... I think we all have full plates. Lets try to finish the mappingthis weekend and get it out next week.
... Once we have the mapping, I'd like to branch the github and edit the personas
... I think we can get more of the mapping with just a bit of tweaking.

Lisa is taking an action to edit the user personas

<johnkirk_> not to be a broken record... will be google doc not github, right? ;)

<johnkirk_> ok ;)

Lisa: Lets edit the personas.

<johnkirk_> understood

<johnkirk_> ok all good

<johnkirk_> I'm sorry I need to leave but again my schedule will be freeing up soon

Lisa: the persona that you and david are working on will be a google doc. Lisa will be editing github.

Rachael: Walk on topic. Do we have or can we creete guidance on how to write good alternative text to numbers and numerical concepts?

<LisaSeemanKest> http://www.02ws.co.il/?&lang=0

Lisa: I can send you a link
... this is a great example of alternative text to weather/temperature information

<johnkirk_> I'm going to need to log off.

<LisaSeemanKest> https://github.com/w3c/coga/blob/master/issue-papers/math.html

<johnkirk_> for WCAG in refernce to?

<johnkirk_> Should we talk?

<LisaSeemanKest> https://w3c.github.io/coga/content-usable/#pattern-provide-alternatives-for-numbers

<johnkirk_> Thank you

lisa: Thank you this was very productive. Just 5 of us but we got a lot done!
