open actions

number 266, Jaroslav

Jaroslav_Pullmann: working on sorting out which issues are serious and which are less so.

kcoyle: that's fine, not due this week.

Jaroslav_Pullmann: the timeline is to have this done by the end of this week?

kcoyle: by the moratorium
… which starts on the 19th

Things are published on tuesdays and thursdays, so we should aim for a few days ahead of one of those.

next one is for us all to review the UCR doc.

Nothing else we can cover today. Most action items are DCAT ones.

Two FPWDs, Profile Negotiation and Profile Ontology update

roba: David got back to Nick about publishing this thing on Thursday. I don't believe there are any showstoppers.
… there seemed to be an intent to get it out on Thursday

<roba> "You and I can work together on this with a view to having it published this Thursday. Is that okay with you? I am busy today but will have some time tomorrow to move this along."

<ncar> Apologies all, can’t stay. My reports are that the two FPWDs will be published Thursday morning barring any unforeseen issues. Time set by DSR. Also, an ESWC paper on Profiles Ont is almost done. Also we are aiming for a Profile conned Implementation in CKAN

kcoyle: I was sort of hoping we would get more of an explanation of what's going on with the thing I forwarded. The suggestion for dx- at the beginning of the short names was excepted, right?

roba: yes

<ncar> Sorry, no WebEx

kcoyle: I believe there are still questions about domain names for ontologies. I sent an email out to Dave and Alejandra, Nick, Rob, a few others. There are a few issues to resolve there, but they don't have to be solved right now.

roba: we're going forward with the namespace as agreed in the group. We haven't heard anything back from W3C on that, shouldn't be a showstopper one way or the other.

kcoyle: so we're planning on publication on Thursday, then outreach.
… do we have a text to go out?

roba: not sure, I think Nick may have started drafting something, but I want to take a look at it before it goes out.

kcoyle: we know we won't get a great deal of response over the holidays. Personal outreach is a good idea.
… The earliest deadline for responses would be mid-January. Do we want to set it that early?

roba: I think the text should simply say that we'll guarantee to respond to feedback by a certain date but we'll welcome feedback later than that.

kcoyle: It's always good to give people a real deadline. We need to respond to everyone.

<ncar> I only drafted a basic email for release will send a suggested intro for both FPWDs to mailing list today. Apologies, have to go, kids

Resolved: comment day for FPWDs will be January 15 or so.

DCAT status

kcoyle: DaveBrowning, can you give an update?
… do you have a plan for what to include in the next draft?

DaveBrowning: not quite
… we haven't yet made up our mind about what we'd be able to get done.

DaveBrowning: last week we talked about a couple of things, but no decisions as to what will go in. We still think it's a good idea to do. We should be able to do that.
… the question of the overall timeline to rec by the end of the working group is something we should talk about, not necessarily here.

We still have a number of issues we think we should address by mid January.

We should keep an eye toward that over the next couple of weeks.

kcoyle: we can always have a meeting over Skype or something to sort this out.

DaveBrowning: I think it's best to have the discussion when we know where we are.

Revision of the UCR

<kcoyle> https://‌rawgit.com/‌w3c/‌dxwg/‌ucr_profile_requirements/‌ucr/‌index.html

The work is mainly around new reqs for profiles and content negotiation

Jaroslav_Pullmann: the change was loosely based on the email by Antoine.

<kcoyle> https://‌lists.w3.org/‌Archives/‌Public/‌public-dxwg-wg/‌2018Nov/‌0802.html

we didn't use third-level headlines.

Jaroslav_Pullmann: we address what functionality do profiles serve, and profile content negotiation.

<kcoyle> proposed: accept this draft of the UCR and re-issue as WD

Jaroslav_Pullmann: the question is should the notes be published along with the draft?
… we could comment them out.

kcoyle: there aren't many

Jaroslav_Pullmann: we had a request to reconsider grouping, but the notes weren't criticized.

Jaroslav_Pullmann: some of the notes don't seem particularly relevant to readers.

<Jaroslav_Pullmann> https://‌rawgit.com/‌w3c/‌dxwg/‌ucr_profile_requirements/‌ucr/‌index.html#RPFDAPUB-1

Jaroslav_Pullmann: that one reads as being somewhat internal. I would not delete them, just comment them out.

kcoyle: Do you feel the document is not ready?

Jaroslav_Pullmann: no, I think we should ask for review from the community
… we should freeze the doc and ask for wider review

roba: I think we should remove the Google doc reference, as it's confusing to external readers.

Action: Jaroslav_Pullmann comment out references to google doc from UCR, but leave the general comments

kcoyle: contact Dave Raggett, assuming Antoine is in agreement. Copy Peter and me to ask what he needs from you. BTW, Antoine should be added to the editors list.

kcoyle: does anyone have anything to add to the agenda?

silence ensues.

Jaroslav_Pullmann: If we try to resolve issues by tuesday, will we publish the UCR as a new working draft?

kcoyle: I will send a note to the public list saying we will publish unless there are objections.

kcoyle: I feel that I hear consensus, but we should send out the email just in case.

Action: kcoyle ask DSR if we need plenary link for subsequent drafts

<roba> * why not put a resolution in now in case?

kcoyle: it's up the thread above
