Patent Call https://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/wiki/Patent_Call

<ahaller2> https://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/wiki/Response_to_Requirements

Ahaller2 prepared response to requirements, @all feel free to comment.

There will only be one last meeting of the entire sdw group. We as ssn group can meet up to 3 more times.

<SimonCox> Me also not available on 20th

Comments on the timelines?

Progress on Action-362 - Extend canonical examples with coastal water body example using rdfs:subclassing and punning

https://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/wiki/GageHeightExample

<ahaller2> KJanowic: combined action items on this page

<ahaller2> ... real example from the USGS

<mlefranc> * reload page for better formatting

<ahaller2> ... data on discharge and on streamgage

<ahaller2> ... sosa:observedProperty examples: GageHeight ; in Observation is either a class or an instance of sosa:ObservableProperty

<ahaller2> ... Alternative 2 is using punning, an instance of an instance

<SimonCox> q

<ahaller2> mlefranc: observedProperty has a cardinality restriction, makes GageHeight1 = GageHeight

https://water.usgs.gov/edu/streamflow1.html

SimonCox: You forgot phenomenonTime

agreed, it was not available

SimonCox: it is a matter of how you interpret the data. Actually it is most likely the sosa:phenomenonTime

kj: I guess Simon is right and i was just sloppy

Ahaller2: We make the ontology more flexible and we are just fixing an error. We got requests around examples. In order to accommodate them we had to make some changes.

<mlefranc> https://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/wiki/Generic_vs_Specific_Modeling

Maxime: If we can relax the axioms in the ontology than let us do it, it will be for the best.
... Question is whether we can still modify the normative sections.

Ahaller2: yes, but it only relaxes the axioms so we are broadening the scope
... to contact w3c

<ahaller2> ACTION: ahaller2 to ask Francois if we can relax axioms to accommodate punning [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2017/06/06-sdwssn-minutes.html#action01]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-371 - Ask francois if we can relax axioms to accommodate punning [on Armin Haller - due 2017-06-13].

Ahaller2: there is also the potential to just change the code. Not perfect but I guess this is what will happen on the long term anyway.

KJ: Yes

Implementation of proposal for alignment as of https://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/wiki/Events_and_Situations for ssn:Observation

<ahaller2> https://github.com/w3c/sdw/pull/912

https://github.com/w3c/sdw/pull/912/commits/cb3f6325619bafa81ce20bcf876a2cc4642e8aaa

<ahaller2> KJanowic: Deployment class becomes a simple alignment, a subclass of Event

<ahaller2> ... sosa:FeatureOfInterest becomes a unnamed union of Event and InformationEntity

<mlefranc> w+

<ahaller2> ... sosa:usedProcedure can not be a sub-property of satisfies anymore

<ahaller2> ... those things that have not been identified as an Observation, but use observationResult, these instances can be aligned

<SimonCox> I just lost audio

Maxime: Quality added because you can observe a sensor capability.
... I am fine with the new axiom

Kjanowic: Observations of the accuracy of a sensor are observations

Ahaller2: you forgot the change history. You fixed an ERROR so we need to point this out.

Progress on Action-356 to create a list of axioms that do not need implementation evidence

Ahaller2: there is a wiki page created for last week's meeting.

<ahaller2> https://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/wiki/Implicit_Implementations_entailed_by_Axioms

Ahaller2: This needs to be transferred to our usage page.
... Raul, can we do this together?

SimonCox: Similar question wrt OWL-Time. Response was that this could be an example that styles the data, e.g., into a html page.

Maxime: Can we exploit the existential quantification axioms to generate implementation evidence?

KJ: very good idea but may not be acceptable

Sensor/Actuator in Figure 2/3 as of ISSUE-198

<mlefranc> https://github.com/w3c/sdw/pull/905/files

Ahaller2: the sampling ended up in the figure but it does not exist any more. Pull request was rejected.

<ahaller2> https://github.com/w3c/sdw/pull/905

<ahaller2> actuator class still missing in figure

Kjanowic: actuator and so forth still missing from the SOSA and SSN overview figures.

Maxime: Can be duplicated to illustrate the actuator part. Sensing has to be removed.

Ahaller2: Follow up on email to remove sensing.

<mlefranc> * (I will have to leave in 5, important interview tomorrow)

We will show figures 2-4 hundreds of times, the figures have to be correct

ahaller2: email reminder to Raul; issue remains open

Progress on Action-364 to add text to explain role of sampling in SSN examples on room/ice sheet

SimonCox: Been working on 366, not yet 364.

Progress on Action-366 to add examples from O&M converted to SOSA/SSN

ahaller2: let us move the discussion of 364 to next week

Progress on Action-367 for each editor to add one example that uses as many classes/properties as possible

<ahaller2> https://github.com/w3c/sdw/pull/911

Ahaller2: A smartphone example using only SOSA. See pull request 911.
... Pull request also fixes broken links
... so we have the iphone, kj's example, the room examples, and so forth. We we need more?

SimonCox: Do we need a short section at the beginning of all examples?

ahaller2+simoncox: sometimes it makes sense not to talk about the sample but directly about the FOI.

Maxime: Put the examples in a way that they flow easily from a reader’s perspective.

<ahaller2> ACTION: mlefranc and ahaller2 to rearrange examples to follow a predefined structural pattern [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2017/06/06-sdwssn-minutes.html#action02]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-372 - And ahaller2 to rearrange examples to follow a predefined structural pattern [on Maxime Lefrançois - due 2017-06-13].

<DHT22/4578#TemperatureSensor> a sosa:Sensor , ssn:System ;

Ahaller2: we can modify the examples to make use of inference.

Difference between subsystem vs ishostedby as of ISSUE-202

<ahaller2> https://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/track/issues/202

Ahaller2: changes to the ontology are not trivial at this stage

<ahaller2> close issue-202

<trackbot> Closed issue-202.

Implementation Evidence Progress

<SimonCox> [Here is an introductory talk I gave last week on SOSA https://youtu.be/dq9ZxjBVVbk]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-373 - Simoncox mlefranc danh to send emails to lists to collect implementation evidence, especially for actuation [on Armin Haller - due 2017-06-13].
