<ed_> +present
IJ: I have a meeting scheduled today; then will report at next IG call
https://www.w3.org/Payments/IG/track/actions/185
jyrossi: It's on my todo list for today to contact Manu in the context of action 185
<Zakim> manu, you wanted to note the email Manu sent to JYR.
Manu: I sent JYR email last week with a pointer to current charter text; I think you concerns might already be addressed
https://w3c.github.io/webpayments-ig/VCTF/charter/
<manu> This is the most recent Verifiable Claims Draft Charter: https://w3c.github.io/webpayments-ig/VCTF/charter/rc-3.html
jyrossi: My question is whether
privacy will just happen as a matter of course, or whether some
technical feature is needed (e.g., attribute-based
encryptions)
... I will think about this and write up some comments
dezell: Thanks to the champions for their preparation and presentations
Summary from the FTF minutes:
* Digital Offers (Linda Toth)
* Regulatory Review (Jean-Yves Rossi)
* ISO TG1/ISO20022 RMG Liaison (pro tem David Ezell)

https://www.w3.org/Payments/IG/wiki/Main_Page/DigitalOffers2016
draft charter -> https://www.w3.org/Payments/IG/wiki/Main_Page/Loyalty2016/Charter
Plan is to:
* Incorporate FTF feedback into discussion points this week
* Final review of draft CG charter (which can change its own charter)
* Launch Digital Offers CG (with linda and joerg as co-chairs) on 10 Oct
* First CG meeting will be 4 Nov at 11am ET
dezell: What are your initial plans re: regulatory review ?
jyrossi: I am first meeting with
my internal team this week to prepare something
... we would like to get people to represent different regions
of the world (china, us, south africa, europe)
... I would like to set up a wiki or equivalent on github
... so I would like to provide an update to the IG on 10
Oct
<Zakim> Ian, you wanted to suggest simply starting with this wiki page -> https://www.w3.org/Payments/IG/wiki/RegulatoryLandscape
IJ: Start with https://www.w3.org/Payments/IG/wiki/RegulatoryLandscape
<scribe> ACTION: jyrossi to present initial plan re: regulatory landscape to the IG [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2016/10/03-wpay-minutes.html#action01]
<trackbot> Created ACTION-186 - Present initial plan re: regulatory landscape to the ig [on Jean-Yves ROSSI - due 2016-10-10].
Kris: I volunteer to be the
champion
... this group sees benefits in investigating how various
ISO/W3C activities relate
... we want to come up with a project plan to see what we can
do in the near future and in the longer plan
... at this stage, the existing cards messages are not yet ISO
20022
... to understand mutual benefits
<manu> Ian: A couple of comments - I recall previous presentations by you and Vincent where you talked about feeding things back into the registry, I expect that is part of the "care and feeding" topic.
<manu> Ian: That probably requires some stability from us before we get to that.
<manu> Ian: Another item based on a conversation w/ Matt Saxxon - he sees an opportunity to look at two different abstractions in ISO-land - one around cards and another by credit transfer - bring those specs more into alignment w/ the ISO specs.
<manu> Ian: it was an interesting parallel that he drew, he and I are trying to figure out an alignment/mapping - make sure to ask Matt Saxon about how he thinks the relationship should evolve.
Kris: We had a FTF meeting in
London (with Matt, JY, others) where we discussed this
... I think we will need to do a similar exercise with
cards.
<Zakim> dezell, you wanted to talk about initial membership in TF
<Zakim> Ian, you wanted to suggest starting point
https://www.w3.org/Payments/IG/wiki/Main_Page/ProposalsQ42015/ISO20022_Harmonization_Task_Force
<manu> Ian: We have a task force wiki page already
<manu> Ian: Let's start with that page if that works
<dezell> +1 to that suggestion
<manu> Ian: We can start to write down participants and plans there.
<jyrossi> +1
https://www.w3.org/Payments/IG/Vision
<manu> Ian: For vision, as I mentioned at the F2F meeting, we had published a vision document a little over a year ago
<manu> Ian: We have not revisited it since then. We have also struggled to get back to use cases and figure out how to turn those into starting points for new charters. I'd like to convene some people to look at that.
<manu> Ian: I don't have a timeframe yet, there is a bunch of work going on in the WG for the next few weeks. That will probably be my focus. I doubt to have a plan until later this month.
<manu> dezell: Are you calling for volunteers yet?
<manu> Ian: not yet, will do that later.
<manu> Ian: I want to distinguish digital offers, regulatory review, from the other three. Digital offers, the promise is to identify standards opportunities.
<manu> Ian: Regulatory review is kind of in the same bucket as Verifiable Claims, ILP - there may be standards opportunities there.
<manu> Ian: ISO liason is a bit different, less about standardization opportunities, more about harmonization and mutual benefits.
<manu> Ian: For Vision, it's more of a framework for how we work and it's a different flavor. Communications is entirely different. Communications is about presenting coherent and useful view of how this IG thinks about payments on the web. Not looking for standardization opportunities - it feels like we should see some proposals on the list and have a chance to comment on them in the list. I don't see these bullets as the same sort of activity, we may want to organize
<manu> our agenda to reflect that. We may want to manage these topics differently going forward.
<manu> dezell: I agree, as I tried to organize thoughts for the X9 newsletter, I was aware of a feeling that these activities fell into categories.
<manu> dezell: I'm agreeing with you on that. I don't know how that may work. You may have made a suggestion in your email that I will check after the call. These are all fresh activities that we need to look at.
<manu> dezell: As we've moved into communications, I've sent out a blog post wrt. our meeting. For IG members, any of you can post a blog post about our meetings. It's a blog for all of us to use, keep that in mind.
<manu> dezell: For my part, communication was to replace some of our previous work on 'capabilities' and 'architecture'. What we said was that we want to communicate better what we're doing so that when a new person comes across our work that we don't raise more questions than we answer.
<manu> dezell: No plan for this yet, but will put something together shortly.
<manu> Ian: It's good to set expectations on timing.
<manu> Ian: What's the expectation on timing here?
<manu> dezell: End of the month would work for this one.
<manu> dezell: This is an extremely busy payments month w/ meetings. End of month seems reasonable.
<scribe> ACTION: Ian to propose a plan for vision, due 2016-10-31 [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2016/10/03-wpay-minutes.html#action02]
<trackbot> Created ACTION-187 - Propose a plan for vision, due 2016-10-31 [on Ian Jacobs - due 2016-10-31].
<scribe> ACTION: dezell to propose a communications piece re web payments [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2016/10/03-wpay-minutes.html#action03]
<trackbot> Created ACTION-188 - Propose a communications piece re web payments [on David Ezell - due 2016-10-31].
<Zakim> manu, you wanted to mention Verifiable Claims next steps.
<manu> http://w3c.github.io/webpayments-ig/VCTF/charter/rc-3.html
manu: Good progress on verifiable
claims at the FTF meeting; I expect the latest charter to be
discussed by W3M this weds
... major text changes but core meaning preserved
... there is a meeting planned end October
... early bird registration ends in 2 days....
dezell: Most of these issues that
we've discussed already are outcomes of the session that we had
at the FTF meeting
... other topics:
- accessibility
- paid content CG started
https://www.w3.org/community/paidcontent/
- ILP (cf the CG)
dezell: These are topics we
discussed at the FTF meeting but where the core discussions are
happening (like VCTF) in the context of another group
... I was happy with our discussions about regulatory issues
and our ISO liaison
... thanks everyone for the work put into those topics
<manu> Verifiable Claims Face-to-Face October 27th and 28th at IIW - early bird registration ends in 3 days: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-webpayments-ig/2016Aug/0039.html
dezell: also appreciated learning about payments in China and increased engagement with our colleagues there.
17 October
