RESOLUTION: Minutes from 25 Aug 2016 are approved,
https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-device-apis/2016Aug/0029.html
Anssi: no news from marcos or
domenic
... I'll ping marcos
Dom: thanks for sending the
gamepad reqs
https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-device-apis/2016Sep/0002.html
... what conclusions should we draw from it on the need for a
v2?
anssi: not sure yet, will need to
look more into it
... probably useful fodder for the VR workshop
... we can put that topic on hold until we hear more
<scribe> ACTION: Dom to send transition request for FPWD of concrete sensors [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2016/09/08-dap-minutes.html#action01]
<trackbot> Created ACTION-772 - Send transition request for fpwd of concrete sensors [on Dominique Hazaël-Massieux - due 2016-09-15].
Anssi: implementation status
updates: we have a working implementation and have a compass
demo webapp which we will show at TPAC
... we'll share our implementation feedback, as well as a
developer feedback
dom: so that confirms that the generic sensor provides a useful framework for new sensors, right?
anssi: indeed; we'll share more
at TPAC
... as long as the sensors themselves are exposed at the
platform level
dom: any interest in getting these implementations to ship in browsers?
anssi: we had sent an intent to
implement (which doesn't need approval), which got some
positive support
... the next level is intent to ship which needs approval from
the relevant owner
... my impression is that there is support, no known
concern
... the only concern is about other browser vendors
commitment
... I mentioned this work started from an issue raised by
mozilla
anssi: we also know another major browser vendor is actively looking at this
dom: what's your views on the privacy/permission issues?
anssi: we haven't looked at that
aspect yet - we've focused on the implementation aspects
... that's next on our list - pretty much a requirement for
shipping any way
... that's probably something worth discussing during our TPAC
meeting
... I'd like to get experts from PING if they're around
dom: would be worth finding someone explicitly from PING
<scribe> ACTION: Dom to find a PING person for joining us at TPAC for discussion on privacy [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2016/09/08-dap-minutes.html#action02]

Andrew: I'll be looking at the issues that have been submitted and make proposals for ways forward

Anssi: planned for 1.5 days since
Monday afternoon has interesting CG meetings (bluetooth &
webnfc)
... I've structured this with first a look at wide review
feedback, starting with TAG feedback
... then we could get the other groups feedback, where having
PING people would be particular useful

Dom: have you looked at whether a polyfill of the current deviceorientation with the 3 new sensors?
anssi: not yet, sounds interesting; likewise for a geo
