Why I Like XForms 2.0 ... and Why You Should Too

https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xformsusers/2016May/0000.html

Steven: Thanks for that.

Whitespace MIP

https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xformsusers/2016May/0001.html

Erik: This is how we implement it.

Steven: Looks good.
... Nice and straightforward

transform()

https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xformsusers/2016Apr/0005.html

https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xformsusers/2016Apr/0024.html

Steven: It seems to have slipped through the cracks; Philip seemed to own it originally.

https://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Forms/wiki/The_XForms_Transform_Function_Module

Steven: So we have to decide what to do, and how to do it, and who to do it.
... we shouldn't reinvent the wheel.

Erik: We have something similar
... I notice that XPath 3 has a transform function

<ebruchez> https://www.w3.org/TR/xpath-functions-31/#func-transform

Erik: We should have a quick look at what they say there.

Alain: XSLTForms has quite a basic version
... the problem with the XPath 3 function is that it uses maps.
... so we would have to use XPath 3.0

Steven: That would be a lot of work

Erik: As much as I would like it, I'm not sure if we can make that step

Steven: Certainly not in the short term

Erik: We should compare the different versions to see what we should do

Steven: Yes, and we should be careful to allow a migration path to XPath 3 for the long term

Alain: If you look at the example, isn't that using XQuery?

<ebruchez> https://www.w3.org/TR/xpath-functions/#func-doc

Erik: No, I don't think so, though I will check

Steven: What we really need is for someone to compare the 4 versions and describe the differences to us

<scribe> ACTION: Erik to compare the 4 different transform() functions and report [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2016/05/11-forms-minutes.html#action01]
