Deborah: can you give an update Tzviya on the new ARIA 1.1 properties.
Charles: we lost a member Kathy :(
Tzviya: aria-details
<tzviya> https://rawgit.com/w3c/aria/issue1009/aria/aria.html#aria-details
Tzviya: DescribedAt /
Details/Summary
... , proposed language in link above, what aria-details allows
for. what that it does not accomplish any visibility for those
who are not using AT.
Deborah: can you read it? The
problem with it being only esposed to AT is a larger problem
with all of ARIA and needs to be addressed ARIA-wide, and that
browser manufactures need to address. there is a problem with
the definition with ARIA as it stands.
... , customization and personalization is important and maybe
will come up again.
... , much broader issue. So currently not accessible outside
of AT.
... this looks almost exactly what we required!
... , it kinda does most of what we wanted. Yeah! It has best
of aria-describedby and longdesc: It can refer to onpage and
off page extended descriptions, it can be on every element, it
identifies itself as extended description.
Tzviya: we all worked on this Rich, Joanie, me, Markus and Cynthia all working on this.
Deborah: Thanks Tzviya for being our champion.
<!-- Provision of an extended description -->

<p>
See an <a href="http://foo.com/pt.html" id="det">Application of the Pythagorean Theorem</a>.
</p>
<dkaplan3> Thanks so much to everyone in ARIA team who made this happen!
Tzviya: we will call for condenses on Monday that we support this for ARIA
<tzviya> https://rawgit.com/w3c/aria/action-2006/aria/aria.html#aria-linktype
Tzviya: : Topic:
aria-linktype
... , glossref, noteref, talked about indexref etc… there is
some Fixme in there that we need to still address.
... , this is a descriptor URI similar role-description. there
is a restricted vocab, role-footnote or footref, role=glossary
this kind of link, links to a glossary etc.
Deborah: this is great, that you could get a list of all the footnotes etc..
Tzviya: Joanie who does this for
Orca already does this for footnotes.
... , web annotations hasn't done anything for a11y and that
this would help in future proofing their work for
accessibility
Deborah: anything that does backward farming for citations, they are really expensive to do and there is a lot of money for backward farming for citations. This is not just accessibility this is a HUGE deal.
Tzviya: There is a lot of discussion that this is ARIA/or DPUB.
<dkaplan3> yay this is awesome!
Tzviya: , this will go out for a
call for consensus once finished.
... , we may add more DPUB specific terms for publishing.
Deborah: once they are general, outside of publishing they will use it for the wider public web.
Tzviya: we have to find a balance.
Charles: I added some contact information for appendixes. I added some Respec links for urls, and haven't started the WCAG google docs to wiki
Tzviya: For ARIA we can use the github issues instead of my contact info.
Deborah: we need to have it in a state where we wont be embarrassed about it. I think it is now in a state that we are fine, it is mostly clear and the meat is in there.
Tzviya: we need to still improve the sections that specificity say No action Item and explain why they are still here.
Deborah: its either we will address in the future as part of DPUB, or some other group is working on it and we need to reach out to those groups to express our concerns.
Tzviya: the bibliography needs to be addressed
Deborah: I will do the notes about why no action items are needed.
Charles: I will continue the respec work for the Bibliography.
Deborah: I think it would be 5 min introduction. here the two sentence elevator pitch of this. This is the section of future work, this is what we are doing now. a gap analysis. Lets not spend 30 min reading it line by line.
Mia: you talk a few examples, and
call them out. Be prepared to talk about them.
... , I will do another pass today.
Charles: next weeks meeting will be cancelled, due to the IDPF meetings next week.
