<scribe> Meeting: Automotive BG
<scribe> Scribe: Ted
<scribe> Agenda: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/internal-autowebplatform/2015May/0004.html
[Adam reviews agenda]
<Zakim> kaz, you wanted to talk about the minutes permission
Kaz: we should clarify meeting minutes, we discussed at F2F switching to public like the WG but should ratify
Adam: good point, will cover at the end
-> https://www.w3.org/2015/04/24-auto-minutes.html BG F2F minutes
Adam: we were hosted by Genivi,
covered quite a few areas including what future focus and
subteams we will form
... it is important to understand the differences between the
two groups
... the WG's focus is solely on the vehicle and data specs.
there will be some overlap in the area of privacy and
security
... the BG will initially go into LBS and Media tuner
... the work, actual deliverables will be determined as the BG
progress
-> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/internal-autowebplatform/2015May/0005.html Draft CfP for joint Security and Privacy TF
[discussion on draft cfp and next steps]
Adam: he is seeking questions and
comments for now, a final version announcement will go out to
public lists and elsewhere
... any questions on division of labor between the groups or in
general?
... once we get the BG's charter complete it would be more
complete

and https://www.w3.org/auto/wg/track/actions/closed
action-3
<trackbot> action-3 -- Ted Guild to Draft a public blog cfp on joint security tf to run by group before announcing -- due 2015-04-30 -- OPEN
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/auto/wg/track/actions/3
Adam: charter is progressing, I
have some internal feedback and will run by Intel legal
department
... it covered LBS, Tuner and Security/Privacy
... procedurally there is a 30 day period of review for both
the individual participants and their organization's managers
and legal departments
-> http://www.w3.org/community/autowebplatform/automotive-and-web-platform-business-group-charter/ Existing BG charter
Adam: concerning this [business]
group, there was a suggestion for it to follow suite of the
working group and do more in public
... so the proposal is to change the process and send meeting
minutes to the public list instead of the internal one
... it will help people understand what work is taking place in
this group. nobody at the f2f had objection, nor were there
comments on the email I sent out for the group
... as such unless someone speaks up on this call, we will
switch the default to public
Ted: if there is something you are hesitant to make public since you are unsure of whether you can make a specific statement public you can ask for it to be off the record
Adam: alright, we'll send this meeting's minutes to the public list and unless we hear objection before June 5th deadline we will do the same for future meetings
<inserted> Adam's message on communication policy for meeting minutes (internal)
action-5?
<trackbot> action-5 -- Adam Abramski to Send f2f proposal to both mailing lists -- due 2015-04-30 -- CLOSED
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/auto/wg/track/actions/5
Adam: there is an opportunity for
the BG to meet F2F and the two groups to meet together
... the next all members meeting for Genivi is in Seoul the
22nd and 23rd of October, we will hold a BG F2F meeting there
then
... the following week W3C is having their TPAC meeting and the
WG will have its F2F the 26th and 27th. The BG will be invited
to participate as well
Sven: interesting, I need to confirm I can attend first
Adam: this is also a great
opportunity to meet with Web of Things IG, Geo WG, WebAppSec,
etc
... it will help us further work of mutual interest such as
having our Media Tuner subteam meet with the TV Controller API
CG
... those meetings can happen on various days that week with
the exception of Wednesday with is their public Technical
Plenary
... I will send out a proposal and ask for feedback
... Phillipe from PSA made a presentation on LBS progress out
of Genivi and are ready for an API with a number of use
cases
... we discussed taking the work from this Genivi group and
start turning it into a javascript API, ensure we address their
use cases, extend them as well and look at this from a web
developer perspective
... it was create from a native developer perspective. Philippe
will be a part if not leading the subteam and Alibaba has
expressed interest as well
... Genivi will be making the necessary information public
Adam: we lost at least one of our
editors from the BG, Kevron, and it is unsure if Justin will
continue on the specs at the WG or will be available for Tuner
and LBS editorial work
... this will be an opportunity for people to take on editor
role for the work coming out of the BG
... the Web & TV Interest Group, specifically their TV
Controller API CG, is interested in helping us with this
Kaz: I attended one of this
group's calls, asked them to consider the use cases generated
by Genivi for automotive media tuning
... they agreed and people interested in this group are welcome
to participate in that CG including joining their calls
Ryan: we have access to the Genivi docs for the Tuner API?
Adam: yes, they made them public
Kaz: yes, we want to have people that have participated from the Genivi side be involved in the TV Controller API CG
Adam: is there someone who can be the single point of contact with that CG?
Kaz: good question
https://www.w3.org/community/tvapi/
<kaz> Bin Hu from AT&T is the Chair of the TV Control API CG
<kaz> kaz: will send a message to Bin CCing you (Adam, Paul, PaulW, Ryan) to start the discussion
Ryan: Dave Mitchel from Pandora I
believe is interested as well
... we collected a number of use cases from internet radio
providers
... there are quite a few similarities between all the
applications, some gaps in TV
... we want to cover AM, FM, XM, Internet, TV
<abramski> ryan from Iheartradio
Ryan: we have a wiki that I
believe everyone here should have access to
... we have received specs from Genivi for radio tuner stuff
and have been comparing across
Adam: the TV group is interested
in furthering the spec work with our use cases and input
... we can focus on our more specific use cases, help them
understand them, review and contribute
-> http://wiki.projects.genivi.org/index.php/IVI_Radio_Use_cases Genivi's Radio Use Cases
Adam: I see this more as explaining our use cases
Dave: I am looking forward to getting caught up
<Zakim> kaz, you wanted to mention the implementation question from ACCESS and it should be handled within the WG
<kaz> kaz: will remind the WG side as well
Adam: yes, ok to bring that to WG
[adjourned]
