<trackbot> Meeting: Timed Text Working Group Teleconference
<trackbot> Date: 10 July 2014
<scribe> scribeNick: nigel
Attendance survey: https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/34314/TTWG_Geneva_F2F_Planning/
nigel: agenda and wiki page is at https://www.w3.org/wiki/TimedText/geneva2014
close action-294
<trackbot> Closed action-294.
nigel: Note that the survey is
open to the Text Tracks Community Group too.
... We need to work out a working model since the expertise on
WebVTT resides mainly in the TTCG even though there's a WebVTT
Rec track in this group.
issue-309?
<trackbot> issue-309 -- Image profile needs to permit text equivalent -- pending review
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/TT/tracker/issues/309
action-301?
<trackbot> action-301 -- Philippe Le Hégaret to Contact w3c accessibility expert re issue-309 -- due 2014-06-26 -- OPEN
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/TT/tracker/actions/301
plh: I talked to our accessibility expert and he's looking into it and will bring it to the media subgroup of the accessibility task force on Monday.
<plh> http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2014Jul/0009.html
<plh> Media Sub-Group
plh: above is the agenda for last week. He's going to include it in next agenda. Anyone interested in attending that call? 10am US Eastern Time, 7am Pacific, 3pm UK time.
pal: Participation from this
group is necessary to represent the issue.
... I'm happy to participate and would like to know the
agenda.
plh: describes the topic [scribe misses details]. Will add pal and nigel to the agenda reception list.
close action-301
<trackbot> Closed action-301.
nigel: There's been a lot of email discussion and proposed text on Issue-309 - I propose to address this after Monday's meeting.
pal: I don't see much obstacle in adopting John's proposal.
<tmichel> Hi, sorry I am really late ...
<tmichel> was editing a document and miss the timing.
<tmichel> yes and IRC bot does not work ..
pal: The next step is for me to take a stab at editing the document today or tomorrow.
issue-317?
<trackbot> issue-317 -- IMSC should not require frame alignment -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/TT/tracker/issues/317
nigel: We seem to have a debate
about the relative importance of quantising to encoded frames
vs allowing the presentation processor to quantise as late as
possible to display frames.
... has missed the debate for scribing due to technical
issues
https://dvcs.w3.org/hg/ttml/raw-file/tip/ttml-ww-profiles/ttml-ww-profiles.html#synchronization
glenn: on the 2nd sentence of
synchronisation SHALL is not the right word - it's a definition
rather than a mandate.
... Under Example 1 the sentence "If ttp:frameRate is
specified, then the product of ttp:frameRate and
ttp:frameRateMultiplier shall be the frame rate of the related
video object."
... this does not say what the behaviour of the IMSC processor
is if this condition is not met - fallback rules or 'abort
processing' type rules should be specified.
... point 1 again: Instead of "A media time expression M shall
correspond... " it should say "A media time expression M
corresponds..."
... If we leave it to the implementation then the semantics are
incomplete for processors. We have some generic language in
TTML that may be relevant.
pal: Okay I'll reuse that
wording.
... I'll integrate John Birch's text in 309 and change the
wording for 317 too and make a stab at showing that there's
flexibility in terms of the related media object.
<plh> regrets for next week
<tmichel> bye.
