Heads up on accessibility resource info for website (Judy)

TL: This is just a one day event (usually include evening before)
... includes introductory talks, how testing is done at W3C.
... including what the particular focus of the event is. Specs to reference, etc.
... attendees are split up into organic groups that will focus on specific parts of specs. That is where lighting talks come up, to gather attendees to hack with them. 3-5 focus groups (usually).
... people work on writing tests for the rest of the day, hopefully tests will be reviewed and accepted by the end of the day.
... prizes for superlatives
... social event afterwards
... opportunities to network with other people in the testing community
... would be great to talk to webdriver people so that we can learn how to automate tests.
... to automate a browser to do what a user would do to interact with a browser, for testing purposes.
... using selenium
... this is the best solution to automate tests that need manual input.

<Zakim> AWK, you wanted to say that I was told that the lightning talk is our chance to recruit people to help with accessibility tests, and then we (the experts) will process approval of

TL: WebDriver folks would love to learn more about how they can improve their spec to support a11y testing

AWK: Adobe's chance to bring more people to the table for testing at the W3C. Also interested in improving WebDriver.
... if we had specific tests in mind, we could work with the developers and those who approve the tests to improve quality of tests in regards to a11y.

TL: the TTWF Site is hosted at github, in markdown, so you can update them an make a pull request and we can use github to discuss the proposed changes

JB: we would like to list some experts on that page, from our team. a couple of other places we would like to add a mention to a11y

Status of relevant accessibility testing for TTWF (Michael, Mark)

<tobie> how to contribute to the testtwf.org website: https://github.com/w3c/testtwf-website/blob/gh-pages/CONTRIBUTING.md#event-page-format

MC: could do testing for potential failure conditions, like when a particular state or property should not be mapped. HTML A11y mapping.
... needs to be done. some places where aria and html requirements intersect.

MS: thinks there is an opportunity to repurpose quality tests for a11y purposes

AWK: what could be effective to pitch that idea (avoid frustration and extra work) is to find a solution to avoid the typical two stage testing
... find a way to test the exposure of certain states and properties

+1

Plan for lightning talk (Kenny)

JB: so these are topics for the lighting talk. to pitch the interests of accessibility testing upfront. then maybe a second talk to those that are interested.

<AWK> Confirmed that they told me "2-3 minutes" for lightning talk

<AWK> (179 seconds)

MS: good idea to say upfront that this will be more of a brainstorming session to solve complicated a11y requirements for testing, not the standard write as many tests as we possibly can in a day.

<wuwei> ok

TL: there may be a pretty significant language barrier at this specific event RE brainstorming session.

JB: hopefully our (new) Chinese staff can help with that.

JB: ideas for lightning talk: who is available, why it would be useful to learn about a11y
... only 2-3 minutes
... need to give a very brief introduction of what web a11y is. a very brief statement about what we want to test, and then how to do the testing

KZ: maybe someone can give me some materials? reference?

JB: that is one of the things we want to cover on this call
... additional suggestions for what Kenny should cover?

<Judy> Perhaps just this:

<Judy> - what is accessibility

<Judy> - why it matters

<Judy> - why it requires specific attention in testing

<Judy> - what tests are already available

<Judy> - who is available to help you

<Judy> Perhaps just this:

<Judy> - please come join us

Plan for accessibility team (All)

JB: I'm assuming everyone will be able to be there for the entire day, maybe not tobie, I have to leave midday.

MS: has no other plans...

Messaging priorities (Judy, discussion)

JB: Michael, Mark, Andrew most familiar with testing
... good situation for everyone to learn from each other.
... RE website list of experts, lets list at least 3 people (see above) could make sense to list others as well.

AWK: should have chinese speaking a11y experts listed

+1

Resources to list on site (All)

TL: sounds like a good documentation page, not something that needs to be in the event itself

JB: who wants to do that? should be translated in Chinese as well.
... could be pointed to in lightning talk

<tobie> Contributing doc: https://github.com/w3c/testtwf-website/blob/gh-pages/CONTRIBUTING.md#documentation-format

Experts to list on site (All?)

<Judy> Experts to list: Andrew Kirkpatrick, Mary Jo Mueller, Mark Sadecki, Michael Cooper, Kenny Zhang, Wu Wei -- we would need to list people in this format

<Judy> http://testthewebforward.org/events/2013/shenzhen.html#experts

<wuwei> yes

<tobie> https://github.com/w3c/testtwf-website/blob/gh-pages/_config.yml#L163-L166

<AWK> For an image - they need a 100x100 image of the experts

<scribe> ACTION: MarkS to update the experts section on TTWF page [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2013/10/24-cg-minutes.html#action01]
