Goals

  • Promote coordination between industry groups, in particular in the broadcasting ecosystem.
  • For attendees to demonstrate their current activities and needs with regards to TV-related technology.
  • For attendees to participate directly with W3C processes and contribute to the development of the Open Web Platform.
  • To identify an updated focus of activity and underserviced areas within the the Web and TV Interest Group and related Community Groups.

  • Harmonization and shared understanding of other TV-related standards
  • Multiscreen control/data sharing
  • Next-generation broadcasting: HTML5-based hybrid TV
  • Migration to HTML5 from CE-HTML/OIPF
  • Moving to HTML from other technologies (Java, MHEG, Ginga)
  • Standardization of advanced metadata, e.g. object audio and in-band tracks
  • Evolution of timed text to cope with technological developments, e.g. 3D and 4K+ screens
  • Testing: Discussing priorities for coverage of test suites
  • Multiple streams: Improving support for stream splicing, synchronisation, etc.
  • Enabling multi-screen advertising
  • Further enhancement of Media Source Extensions

  • 10 February 2014: Acceptance notification and registration instructions sent.
  • 16 February 2014: Program and position papers announced.

  • 13 March 2014, 5 PM: Workshop ends.
