1. Summary of F2F last week in Norway, hosted by Norwegian Oil Association

Susie:Started by discussing progress since Nov. 2006 F2F
... progress in regards to Charter
... Outreach and Education actions
... wonder how we can do more education; talking to universities perhaps
... Susie to speak with Nigel Shadbolt; spoke with Ian [?], thought it would be tricky
... may not be an easy model to do with universities
... Ivan will also contact some people for ideas
... another area in charter is organizing CIO-CTO type meetings
... thinking it would be difficult to outreach to companies on our own
... hard to access these people
... maybe outreach one level lower, those who may be more accessible than CTO-CIO
... we also talked about working with analysts on a meeting
... for example, Gartner collaboration
... or others like IDC or Forrester

<scribe> ACTION: Karen to investigate analyst relations [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/05/02-sweo-minutes.html#action01]

Susie: would like to see more materials before we do outreach to new audiences

... We also talked about community projects at F2F
... decided to list the community projects on SWEO IG main page,

not just on wiki

scribe: Kjetikl and Ivan to do

Kjetilk: I have started but not done yet
... I'll write blog post, status
... not sure how much to include

Susie: description of community projects should be brief; 2-3 sentences
... provide context in our world; also talked about use cases, working on SW brochure
... logo discussion for all of SW standards
... small but productive group in Norway
... second agenda item, Community Project

<scribe> ACTION: Kjetilk to do outreach [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/05/02-sweo-minutes.html#action02]

2. Community Projects

Kjetilk: no further updates

3. Use Cases

Ivan: I actively solicited use cases

<kjetilk> Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation

Ivan: NRK, big Norwegian TV company has a huge archive of digitized material
... presentation at conference; they said they would provide use case
... some others I am following up with
... in Boston I met June Kinoshita from Alzheimer's Research Forum
... she may provide use case as well
... FAO Susie will review
... Siemens, and Renault

Kjetil: possible use case

Ivan: also from Computas

Susie: I have action item to review use cases and to email companies to establish new contacts
... I saw Giles Day from Pfizer on Monday

Susie: asked about use case from Pfizer

Susie: company is reorganizing; he probably cannot provide right now because he is so busy
... Ted Slater in Ann Arbor may be helpful from Pfizer
... may have more time than Giles
... I'll contact Sun; recent Business Week article referenced Kodak

<scribe> ACTION: Karen to send Susie Kodak contact person [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/05/02-sweo-minutes.html#action03]

Susie: Chen is working on Chinese medicine portal; I'll follow up with him and
... also Nokia for a case study
... also Audi, GM, and Ford
... Mary Tomale from McDonald Bradley doing defense work

Ivan: What I hope is after we publish first batch, we'll hear from more companies

Susie: Yes, first round should help attract more

<Melli> Susie, the Pfizer project from UK is going well, and we might be able to get a use case from them.

4. Semantic Web Logo

Susie: options for logos for Semantic Web; we won't discuss because bengee cannot make call today; please look at logos for next time
... Ian Jacobs, head of W3C CommTeam, wants to work with us
... so that's good

5. SW Survey

<scribe> ACTION: Karen to finalize SW survey summary [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/05/02-sweo-minutes.html#action04]

6. SW Brochure

Susie: Any progress on SW brochure?

<PaulaP> http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/sweo/group/wiki/Collateral_Material

Paula: new version on wiki
... I incorporated updates based on F2F meeting; please everyone look and give feedback
... made quite a few changes

Susie: invites everyone to look at new version
... and send/email URL out to list

<scribe> ACTION: Paula will send email and explain changes [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/05/02-sweo-minutes.html#action05]

Susie: Two sections to SWEO wiki, public and private
... can you post to both?

Paula: I can, but thought we would only make final version public

Susie: it's ok to post much like the FAQ

<scribe> ACTION: Paula to move to public wiki [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/05/02-sweo-minutes.html#action06]

Susie: Exciting that we finished the FAQ
... and Ivan arranged to publish it on W3C home page

Karen: also referencing it for outreach

Other matters

Susie: Wing mentioned his presentation to SiCOP went well
... a US government organization
... he had to do it remotely, so hard to gauge audience reaction

Wing: Not sure, but it was straight forward; one question about Cambridge SW gathering

<kidehen> wing: url for slide deck?

Susie: Likes Wing's presentation and suggests pointer
... SW gathering held last night
... Kingsley did nice job hosting
... many extra people from BioIT World attendees
... we had promoted it and can do more outreach to them
... Feedback on SW gatherings; suggest that formats vary
... networking, 2-3 demos, then R&D pub is format
... maybe do a special gathering one month; or a demo focus another meeting; or panel

<kidehen> Susie: +1

Susie: invites comments on these ideas

Karen: mentions inquiries from BioIT about other SW gatherings in other cities

Susie: SB Forum meetings quarterly, have experts
... next meeting coincides with Semantic Technologies conference
... Susie and Eric Miller on panel, Google, and Booz Allen Hamilton
... panel being moderated by Jeff Pollack, Oracle

<Melli> I have a comment

Susie: Bengee and Leo may have participated in Web Mondays in Germany
... nice to start a gathering in China

Kingsley: I have a to do item
... SW Web gatherings; what's happening in Banff?
... project is part of SWEO
... should we merge that?

Susie: what is date?

Kingsley: 5:30-7:00pm before main event on Wed.,

9 May

Susie: encourage people to mention SWEO affiliation

Kingsley: we should see good exposure
... lots of Europeans attending; introduce them to North American participants

Susie: we will skip SWEO call next week
... encourage people to attend in Banff if you are there

Kingsley: Info-gathering form is done
... should I put out a demo version?

Ivan: I would wait for Leo for that

<scribe> ACTION: Kingsley to review form with Leo [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/05/02-sweo-minutes.html#action07]

Karen: Is there an opportunity to meet anyone at SW Tech conference to talk about SWEO group in Bay area

Susie: Monday evening may be an open time
... not sure what we could do

Karen: suggests possible meeting with company or university contacts about doing gatherings similar to MIT

Susie: SB Forum already does this in Bay area
... I can send you invite; Jeff Pollack heads those
... more commercially focused

Kingsley: we don't do too much commercial work on East Coast;

I'd like to get some Venture Capitalists to attend

scribe: on West Coast they talk about how to commercialize
... there is an imbalance that we should address

Susie: maybe we do a panel at one of next gatherings with VCs
... let's talk in Banff next week

about outreach to VC community

Kingsley: I expect some VCs and Angels to attend next time
... I will extend official invite

Susie: moves to adjourn
... next week's call is cancelled
