use case document

Ben: Michael and I will work on use case document
... use case #1 - publish a FOAF file (TimBL style) in my HTML page
... good example of use case doc

http://www.w3.org/TR/grddl-scenarios/

Ben: use case #2 - web-based wizard generates chunk of HTML with metadata for inclusion in another page.
... (Creative Commons)

Mark: use case #3 - publishing item for sale, to be harvested by engine
... something like a chemistry page, links to medical terms
... browser is able to navigate this data because of RDFa
... use case #4 - dynamic browser behavior based on embedded metadata

Elias: use case #5 - from IBM, to be sent by Elias later

<scribe> ACTION: Elias to send email to list with use case from IBM [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2006/12/04-htmltf-minutes.html#action10]

Ben: use case #6 - HTML widgets

Mark: I do all email in gmail. Metadata in email would be very useful.
... use case #7 - metadata in web-based email
... communication between applications facilitated via HTML

Ben: sender, or Google generated?

Mark: both, really, and the email client can be smart.

Ben: another example is Structured Blogging

Mark: more general version of use case #7 - web-based cut&paste
... live clipboard with RDFa

<EliasT> http://rayozzie.spaces.live.com/editorial/rayozzie/demo/liveclip/liveclipsample/clipboardexample.html Live Clipboard Example.

<EliasT> exactly!

Ben: on behalf of Michael: use case #8 - semantic wiki
... part of the issue of semantic wiki is best-practices, but we need that use case.

Elias: an important application of RDFa

Ben: proposed structure for the document assumes a syntax for RDFa
... everyone seems to be in agreement

update from IBM

Elias: IBM is working on a new social networking suite
... I'm working on the blog component. Lots of AJAX integration. Lots of extensibility of UI.
... mixing metadata on the web page with JS plugin that do extra lookups and rendering

<mhausenblas> +1 Mark

Ben: summary of discussion - there will be a bunch of questions from IBM as they begin to implement RDFa, we need to be responsive to them.

<EliasT> http://www.intertwingly.net/blog/2006/12/04/Inch-by-Inch

<scribe> ACTION: Elias to look into sharing Open Office with task force [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2006/12/04-htmltf-minutes.html#action11]

<EliasT> http://wiki.oasis-open.org/office/metadata_proposal

Mark: use case #9 - open office and SVG documents with RDFa
