This technique doesnâ€™t test for anything specific in HTML. The proposed solution in this technique can be applied in any technology. There is actually nothing in this technique other then itâ€™s identifier that would have to change for this technique to be a general technique. Making this a general technique would mean it would be applicable to other technologies.

This comment is part of the project for the Accessibility Support Database.; Related issues: (space separated ids); WG Notes: It is interesting that the Applicability section lists "All technologies that support color and text" and not just HTML. While the Example is written in HTML, Wilco is correct in that the technique itself is more General. The Example needs to be edited to make slightly more generic: Example 1: Required fields in a form The instructions for an online form say, "Required fields are shown in red and marked with (required)." The cue "(required)" is included as part of the programmatically determinable name for the control. and then provide the specific HTML example code.; Resolution: Thank you for your comment. The Working Group agrees that this technique is applicable to all technologies and will be moved to a General Technique. This change will appear in the next public review draft.; (Please make sure the resolution is adapted for public consumption)
