Announcements

Included in All Documents

The following text (if any), with its header, will be included in the status section of each document. This may be left empty.

(Nothing for this round.)

Per-Document "Summary of Changes"

The text provided here for each document will be extracted, during publication, and placed in the "status of the document" section, under the sub-heading "First Public Draft" or "Summary of Changes" (as appropriate). This text should usually be one or two paragraphs, and link into the body of the draft (make it a working link, please) for more details on the changes.

Core

The design of the Core dialect has not changed significantly since the previous Working Draft. The grammar, XML Schema, and definitions of safeness have been re-articulated, and other minor corrections have been made.

BLD

The changes since the previous version (which was also a "last call" draft) are largely editorial; see the changelog for details. Most of the changes to RIF during this time have been to DTB and to the other dialects.

FLD

Since the previously published draft of this document, it has been extended to include aggregate functions and modules. In addition, a number of small problems have been fixed and clarifications added.

SWC

Since the previous Working Draft, OWL compatibility has been updated to include OWL 2 (which is a compatible extension of OWL 1). The changes are detailed in the change log.

DTB

Since the last version, the rdf:text datatype has been renamed rdf:PlainLiteral, and list functions have been added, in addition to general editorial improvements.

PRD

Since the previous Working Draft, numerous editorial fixes and improvements have been made, along with minor changes to the language design.

For W3C News

The Rule Interchange Format (RIF) Working Group has published six Last Call Working Drafts. Together, they allow systems using a variety of rule languages and rule-based technologies to interoperate with each other and with Semantic Web technologies.

Three of the drafts define XML formats with formal semantics for storing and transmitting rules:

The other drafts:

The Working Group requests comments be sent to public-rif-comments@w3.org by 31 July 2009. Learn more about the Semantic Web Activity.
